Why is this becoming more and more close to Edge's homepage?

News feeds seem to be a symptom of enshittifiaction. At least you can still get a functional and minimalist homepage on Firefox by disabling it.

Remember Google Now, that "homepage for you" on Android that showed you the weather, reminders, calendar events, etc... But eventually Google removed all the functionality and replaced it with an infinite feed of news slop.

Slop. Feed. Rather synonymous.

Agreed, these feeds are also often full of BS articles exactly because they're put there to catch your attention. I want to like Mozilla, but every other thing they do seems questionable

You can do that on Edge too btw.

yesy yes thanks mozzilla i love logging in to work on monday morning to find a new homepage with "thought provoking stories" about:

  • jannik sinner being op
  • who is still using floppy disks, by geopop.it
  • best pictures about the chinese new year celebrations in italy, from viaggi.corriere.it
  • how the new trash tax works, by today.it
  • NBA players that are also rappers (😱😱😱 thanks mozzilla I almost missed this one!)
  • 5 types of incense to remove negative energies from your home

...and a whole number of other useless slop I will never open and I will never care about. I hate enshittification so fucking much
