I'm trying for 8 days straight at 00:00 in Beijing local time and the damn thing rejects every time.

I wish I unlocked it before updating to hyperos

Edit: I mean the new way of unlocking through the Xiaomi Community, not Mi unlock tool.

About 3-4 years ago, yes. I unlocked my Redmi Note 8 and installed LineageOS.

I meant the new way of unlocking the bootloader through the Xiaomi Community thing, not Mi unlock tool.

You didn't have to use this stupid app 2 years ago.

If you have unlocked another one in less than 12 months ago, you cannot unlock it. They started to restrict unlocking bottloader even more and it's now 1 unlock per account in 1 year. It sucks.

Just make another account to bypass it?

Needs another phone number with another SIM card.

RIP.

Does Google Voice work?

I don't think so, since they specifically ask you to connect the internet via mobile data for authentication.

Visible trial SIM then? They have free one-week trials.

I haven't used any eSIM yet so I have no idea how they work. Someone should try it. Although even if someone has a success, it probably won't last long and they will have a precaution for this sooner or later.

Not sure what is the "Xiaomi Community app".
I unlocked mine Xiaomi using "Mi Unlock" app for Windows.

It worked at the first try, but I needed to download app with newer version than offered on official page.

Next step, installing new ROM via sideload.
I needed to flash low lever firmware with newer version.

Next, a sideload, without problems.

For some godforsaken reason they decided to make unlocking even harder. Now you have to first get approval from Xiaomi on an android app.

And oh boy, the new unlocking steps are literally worse than stepping on bunch of legos.
