Tiny Toon Adventures, then Animaniacs.

Kinda giving away my age, but Animaniacs was right around the time I just started appreciating characters such as Minerva Mink and Hello Nurse.

Underdog, Batfink and Karate, Rocky and Bullwinkle

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

I loved Rocky & Bullwinkle! Before my time but we had so many VHSes.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Batfink was a favorite of mine too! First time I've seen it mentioned out in the wild.

As a kid in the '70s, all the cartoons on Wednesday afternoons kids matinee...Vicky the Viking, Maya the Bee, Heidi, Remi, Pink Panther & Hong Kong Phooey.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Hong Kong Phooey holds a weird place in my brain. Like, I love it, but not for any good reason.

Europe I suppose?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

I was never really into cartoons but I enjoyed Pee-wees Playhouse.

Duckman. I still fall asleep with it sometimes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

That's not quite a children's cartoon...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

So many... The earliest cartoon I remember loving was The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It was incredibly cozy. Then I discovered Cartoon Cartoons, especially Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter's Laboratory with their throwback art styles, and got obsessed with those for a while.

Eventually SpongeBob came out and became my personality, because he was basically an annoying kid trying his best to be friends with everyone like I was. (It's played out now, it wasn't back then.)

ETA how did I not mention classic Looney Tunes. Before we had cable I was really into the classics.

Imma bend the rules:

Thunderbirds.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Thundercats original series, and the original Dungeons & Dragons.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Once I turned 10: SpongeBob and the Simpsons

Before that: everything, including PokΓ©mon, GummyBears, Darkwing Duck, I am Weasel, recess… I just loved everything!

Doraemon

This is a very big franchise in Asia but rarely mentioned in the west, so let me introduce it to (most of) you :>

Doraemon is a robot cat from the 22nd century who has gone back in time to help a kid named Nobita. He has a lot of wacky gadgets to offer. Each episode is basically a story about one of these gadgets. They also pump out a new movie every year.

Ninja Hattori is big in Asia but unknown in the rest of the world as well right?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

I don't know about that. The authors of Ninja Hattori and Doraemon shared the same pen name though

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Doraemon is incredibly popular in Spain, to the point that basically everyone no matter the age knows at least the premise and the main characters. It baffled me when I found out that it was largely unknown in other western countries.

Edit: I just remembered Shinchan, another anime that is huge in Spain but not very popular elsewhere.

Mighty Orbots, just for the theme song alone. Now that I think about it I will have that song stuck in my head all day.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Professor Kitzel.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

I used to be scared of Tintin for some reason, but loved to sit around watching it.
