The release of Dune 2 has been delayed until March 15, 2024. Bummer but I get it. :(

" Fran Drescher! I place you in charge of SAG. The studios are yours to squeeze, as I promised. I want you to squeeze and squeeze and squeeze! Give me fair contracts! Drive them. Drive them into utter submission! Do not show the slightest pity or mercy! Never stop. Go. Go! Show no mercy! "

I’m totally fine with this. Considering how bad this year has been for film releases, 2024 is a much better option anyways.

Valid protest like these deserve full support. The industry need this to survive. Better wait and enjoy a masterpiece later that have a commercial blockbuster now.

I'm irked that this is likely because of the SAG inclusion in the strike, and that WB can't promote the movie by use of the actors in interviews and other live event promotions. Therefore, someone did the maths and determined that WB would make slightly more money by delaying and using actors for promos than they would if they just released on schedule.

Not a popular opinion, especially in the Dune topic. I did not like the first movie and don't have high hopes for the second.

Characters are too pretty. I understand they have to be clean (for the movie) but Arrakis is supposed to be harsh.

It leaves big parts of the book out, even contradicts the book for the rule of drama. Kynes quote about not being able to survive two hours without a stillsuit (not in the books, examples include Kynes) means Arrakis is physically toxic, putting stillsuits on par with spacesuits. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=edJKKUsdVNY

Overall I give the movie a C-. Watchable but not worth paying money for.

Hopefully the next one is better. But I wouldn't count on it or pay to see it.

Although I enjoyed the movie, I do think it had its imperfections as an adaptation. The second one probably will to for many fans of the novels. These books would probably be best adapted as a multi-season show the the budget of something like The Expanse or more. For my part, I’m glad that more people are getting introduced to the novels through the adaptations to come.

IMO if wanted a Dune TV series to work they'd go with lore/backstory stuff that the novels do not get into as much.
