Maaaaaan The Onion has been on fire lately. I've almost bitten the onion a few times because their headlines are absolutely believable.
Almost ate the onion this time. Ugh, this timeline sucks.
I meam the reboots of wolfenstien caused outrage too. Specifically I remember wolfenstien the new colossus causimg outrage when it had the tagline "Make america nazi free again" or something to that effect.
It was that, and they had the audacity to have a supporting cast of basically hyper charged versions of people who were protesting against the Vietnam War and Segregation in our universe, who were basically terrorists/resistance fighters in their timeline.
You know, socialists, communists, minority races, women.
Was eating it right till I checked the sub.
So many headlines I'm like:
"Please be Onion! Please be Onion! Please be Onion!"

Hour and minute hands are now bent at 90 degree angles, and mirrored.

God I wish this didn’t feel so damn close to reality
I was surprised to see this was the Onion given that people were unironically saying this when Wolfenstein 2 dropped.
God... remember the new Wolfenstein duology? Machine Games had zero problems outright getting on stage and saying "fuck Nazis" and they were some of the most glorious and satisfying glory kills in all of gaming.
Then comes the sequel and it was clear Microsoft had given them a talking to and they had to do a MUCH more muted presentation. And chuds were freaking out and insisting that the KKK would NEVER have allied with the Nazis because they... love america too much?
And then the third game never materialized and we instead got a really mediocre action game that alludes to what would have happened in the third. And I suspect THAT only came out to help promote gamepass.
Didn't one of these games use a promotional line "Make America Natzi free again" and conservatives freaked out because they thought it was directed against them?
There is also a fairly popular DOOM mod that replaces mechaHitler with mechaThatcher, which Bethesda just banned from their certified mod db because they are fucking cowards.

I'm sure I've seen this very complaint about other games in real life.
I loved Wolfenstein until it got too political :(

In your defense, this literally happened with the Wolfenstein game remake.
You ate the Onion, like many of us lately. There are so many ridiculous things happening irl, that i have to do double takes and check again what community I'm at.
low hanging fruit (shallow growing onion???) because this has happened for basically every game featuring nazis as enemies for the past decade or so
Modders are gonna have field day with this one
I mean, it still is shallow one-dimensional propaganda, it's just not hurting anyone ... or at least it shouldn't.
