Look, if these complete morons on the Right want to vote against their self-interests and America, they are beyond help, and all I will do is keep working my a-- off to make sure people understand this.

What we have is a failure to communicate on the Left.

The truth is these people support the America-attacking blowhard because he stirs their cold blood. He makes them feel good about looking backward instead of at all the possibilities ahead. He makes them feel good about thinking they are the only thing that matters and that they have somehow been cheated out of their dark, empty lives.

They don’t want to make America better. They want to make everybody else’s lives worse.

All they are is angry, and have finally found a lewd, racist conman who can put a megaphone to their tantrums, and deal the rest of America plenty of pain. He has no goddamn answers for them or us.

What we have right now is a MASSIVE messaging problem.

From the minute the Biden Administration took power it worked like hell to tackle a global crisis that was exacerbated by the previous administration. I mean, holy s--- even infrastructure got done, and do you know who has benefited most from that? White people.

If that didn't resonate, it’s not because it didn’t happen. It’s because too many people didn’t know about it.

Democrats have no message, progressives suck at talking, Republicans are good at talking because they know it's all they have.

But at a certain point people do just have to be smart enough to see that something so obviously bad is bad. You really can't work around it.

Which is why the American status quo (as opposed to "humanity") is a virus that the earth is healing by means of a fever. Our best is better than this, but we're graded on our average.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 hours ago

I'd say Republicans are good at saying thing that appeal to human emotions, not talking.

To hell if they really go through what they promise. And they will take credit for things they have no parts in because it riles up their base.

I mean, what was Trump platform exactly? The concept of a plan. Same as Doug Ford.

Still, they were elected.

At this point, the Democrats saving grace would be to go more left and proposing actual progressive programs and ditch the status quo. But the brass of the DNC don't have the interest of the people first.

I disagree that the left is bad at talking, it's the North American culture that sucks at dealing with confrontation and dealing with things they disagree with. Any once of heated debate is too much and is seen as a big conflict instead of a healthy thing. So instead, any disagreement is automatically brought to the extreme because it is taken personally.

Anyways, this is a complex subject and there are many things that needs to be done differently.

The reality is Biden should never have run for a second term. It was very egocentric of him to think only he could possibly beat the orange moron. If people weren't honest with him about his physical/mental state and he couldn't recognize it himself, that was the first of many dominoes.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh, I'm not loathing myself - I did the right thing. I blame the Democratic Party's decision to colossally fuck up every part of the 2024 election cycle.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Well we had a great primary to ensure the best most qualified.... You know, I think your right, I really didn't have a choice, the loosing candidate was cemented as my only choice. Democracy's a funny thing when it's not Democratic. From the get go it was like gift wrapping the largest military on the planet to Russia. Every one of those fucks in the DNC won't give two shits, they'll make money from donations for the next undetermined amount of time while what was left of our failed democracy is sold off to the highest bidder. At least now they don't have to worry about doing anything for the people the love to loathe.

Democrats are fucking clown shoes! I need a new party.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

Should Biden have never ran for a second term? Yes, I remember the claim of a 1 term even...

Is the dnc complacent in a lot of issues? Of course, Hillary is a real early reminder.

Do I think the DNC is deeply tied to the Russian attempt to get what they want? No, they have their puppet and those 'news' organizations work for him well. All they had to do was keep people angry/complacent. And it worked! Less dems voted.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is the primary that big of a deal? Given the limited time for campaigning it seems reasonable that the party appoints a candidate they can all get behind.

I don't really understand though - we don't have primaries here. We expect our politicians to exhibit the suitability for the role by convincing their colleagues to back them - kinda like they'll have to do in the wider government should they get elected. The parties just publish their lists of candidates (ranked) and we just vote for the party.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah the primary is where we choose the candidate to represent us. Without a primary we are robbed of our choice of who gets to run. We only get a choice between two parties.

It would be like me and all my asshole friends choosing the candidate that's gonna line our pockets for you to vote for. You have this one shit sandwich and a shotgun. Easy choice at first.

We've had a shit sandwich and a shotgun as our choices for the last 50 years. This time there are live rounds and a fuckwit's itching to use it and we still chose a shotgun over the shit sandwich.

In the past we had the opportunity to choose the toppings on the shit sandwich provided to us giving the illusion of choice. Still ends up being a shit sandwich.

With so many Americans on the brink, pain, debt, legal drugs you can't afford, a healthcare system designed to rob you blind, low wages, corporations spying on your every movement with every device known, a failed educational system, destitute, and I could go on and on, we chose the shotgun.

I really hate this idea that Trump supporters are just angry people that want to watch the world burn. They aren’t. They genuinely believe that he will stop things like elite pedophilia, reverse inflation, reverse wage stagnation. Many of them believe he will return Christianity to the country (which I think is the only realistic thing they believe, which in my mind is a bad thing.) They genuinely believe he will save the country. Y’all gotta stop talking about them like they just hate everyone and want the country to burn. It’s just patently wrong and tone deaf and makes you guys look insanely out of touch.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The problem is that they have been brainwashed by 30 years of right-wing media to convince them to never believe anything Democrats say ever. We could tell them literally everything they want to hear and they would say we're lying, or nod along and then go vote for the Republican anyway

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 day ago

"Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line."

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

he will stop things like elite pedophilia

LOL, he's the face of elite pedophilia.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

I know. The irony is strong enough to peel paint.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

angry people that want to watch the world burn

believe he will return Christianity to the country

They're the same picture.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

It is weird how close that ven diagram is to a circle isn’t it?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Republicans would light their own children on fire if it meant Brown people MIGHT have it worse they they do now. Your charitable ideas about who these racist fascist cunts are in their hearts fails to account for all the COVID vaccine misinformation and outright denial of a) the virus b) the vaccine c) how many were sick and dying d) how many are still sick and dying. But sure, "they just want a better america like we do, folks, god bless us everyone, aw shucks ayuck ayuck ayuck"

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago

Ahh, sense.

But did you consider that maybe they sacrificed their own children to covid because you were a big meanie poo poo head about it (after they already did it)??

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I will welcome these Christians "returning" as soon as they:

a) accept the separation of church and State as inviolate

b) actually read their fucking Bibles

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

American Christianity is a weird different beast than what the Bible actually says and is.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Almost like they haven't read their fucking Bibles.

If they had, they'd understand the import of sections like the Gospel of Matthew, ie

Matthew 24 24:

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well reading the Bible made me deconvert so I see why they would not want people to read it

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Oh for sure. Learning about religion is the surest path to atheism, but that doesn't excuse charlatans who drape themselves in Christianity's swag.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

I have family that are convinced of several of these and any evidence I present is 'fake news' or otherwise handwaved away from not being from their approved sources (and I mean non-affiliated, peer-reviewed papers for stuff as well). It's going to put christianity in some position and take care of the immigration issues, so they believe, and that's what they want.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Ah yes, another maga apologist. Hopefully eventually people like you will realise that this world is never going to get better while you play in the ball pit eith all the other kids. If republicans dont want to act like adults, then dont treat them like adults. Remove their agency. Ridicule them. Publically shame them every chance you get. The only chance we have of ever fixing this country is to shame the right so completely that we leave it as part of our culture that we dont stand for this bullshit.

You say "your body, my choice" and as far as im concerned you are no longer a human capable of autonomy. You have just forfeited your human rights.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago

My sibling in Christ, if there is one thing that did not contribute to Trump winning the election, it is not enough shaming by leftists. If anything there is too much.

Committed Trumpists can't be shamed. They love it when the left try to shame them because that means they're "triggered". And as a result non-political "centrists" who "just want to grill" can't be shamed because they've got people on the one hand telling them they should be ashamed and people on the other telling them they're doing nothing wrong; in fact, they're doing great! Who do you think they'll side with?

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending either of these groups of people. However shame is ultimately only effective when you can convince someone that what they're doing is shameful, and to do that you have to bring them on side first. Yes, it sucks having to play nice and be patient with the "non-committed voter", but ultimately the right has the left outmatched both in the ability use violence and the ability to appeal to people who don't actually want to do anything.

Anyone who says “your body, my choice” is a lost cause though, feel free to punch those people all you want.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 19 hours ago

Lol I’m not a maga apologist. It’s an ideology that’s based entirely on stupidity and hatred. Next time you want to say something consider shutting the fuck up instead.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Word. I understand venting but blaming the voters is not a winning strategy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Exactly. This guy gets it.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 day ago (3 children)

What we have right now is a MASSIVE messaging problem.

I mean, it's a day that ends in Y so of course the Democrats have a messaging problem.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Democrats: BUT THE ECONOMY IS BETTER!! Shut up with your ignorant "bad economy" THE STOCK MARKET IS UP!! Yeah yeah a single person spends almost $100/week on groceries not even enough to last the week and wages haven't moved much for low earners unless I aggregate as many sectors as possible and show a compiled list of averages, BUT THE STOCK MARKET!! So what if your wage didn't increase much, the chart says it did!!!

Also Democrats: how are we tone deaf?

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 day ago

Seriously though, it would be funny if it wasn’t handing the greatest military power the world has ever seen over to fascism.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

If someone's spending $100/wk. in groceries, they're not even trying. My wife and I spend about $130 every 2-weeks.

$132 last trip and that included steaks and shrimp.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

... I have limited options. I buy a family pack of chicken (the cheapest they have, no organic anything) a can of beans, a can of mixed vegetables and a can of mushrooms for a weeks worth of lunch. I get a pack of romaine lettuce, a tomato and an onion for a "weeks worth" of dinner. I also get a weeks worth of cat food. The only "extras" is milk. No snacks, no dessert, nothing extra. Where I live that's $80-100 depending on if I need things like garbage bags or dressing.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Are you in a rich area?! Food's quite cheap if we shop around, hit the crappy grocery stores, but mostly we do Aldi.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 17 hours ago

Where I am it's "rural" enough that I only have 2 options within 30-40 mins of my house and they're both similarly priced. I'd have to go about an hour to somewhere that might have better prices, but I rent a garage "apartment" so I can't buy bulk as I don't have a freezer and my refrigerator was apparently pulled from a camper or something. It's like a playschool "babys first refrigerator" lol

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

The messaging being that the top of the Democratic Party needs to start listening to everyone instead of just their Wall St donor friends.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Does the DNC use a PR agency or is it just their internal PR people?
