Is it worth putting on my steam wishlist for when it goes on sale (or I have extra cash)?
Yeah I think so. If you haven't a particular interest in mech games you can wait for it to go on sale or maybe get cracked.
I haven't played any mech games before but I have been enjoying it. Solid 8/10 for me so far.

Oh sweet, thanks! I may have to look into this
I was gonna play at midnight and literally at midnight got a tornado warning and had to go in the basement
I'm in the middle of bingeing a few other games, but I'm pretty excited about this, despite not having played the series before. Mech games kick ass.
Having a good time with it so far. I've gotten plenty of CTDs, but they've always been in the post-mission loading screen, so I haven't lost any progress. The missions themselves are mostly bite-sized chunks of content, with some longer missions with one or more boss fights. I kind of appreciate how it allows you to play a bit of a time as opposed to sucking you into massive play sessions. There's a lot of replayability with trying new mech combos. I go back and forth between a lightweight reverse joint build focused on dodging and long range engagements for AC duels, and then a more generalist medium-weight bipedal build for general missions and bosses.
Overall, it's good and a very different experience that any Souls game.
I'm gonna wait to see how well it works with Proton. If it is fairly solid it's gonna be hard to resist AC on PC (linux).

from the thread over there it looks like it mostly is workable ootb, definitely some bugs and crashes though
