It always bugged me that the liar participates in explaining the rules. That, and they never explaing that saying "It's a piece of cake" is the reason she falls down to those creepy grabby hands.

As a kid, I always assumed she went through the wrong door despite solving the riddle because the rules of the game were explained by a liar, and that they were both liars.

Holy shit is that the reason why Jareth gets so pissy when Sarah says it again down in the tunnels and sends in the cleaners?

Since everyone in the comments seems to know, what's this a reference to?

I can't believe everyone knows such an obscure reference

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This is not obscure, it's fucking David Bowie there

The movie starred David Bowie's cock, David Bowie was just a supporting actor.

I'm pretty sure they were being sarcastic. I've definitely heard of the movie. I just haven't seen it (and won't since it's apparently a musical).

(and won’t since it’s apparently a musical).

A musical with music written and performed by David Bowie. With Muppets.

Why would you not watch such a thing?

David Bowie and Muppets don't really mean anything to me, and I can rarely tolerate a musical.

I don't like musicals but this film is amazing, truly one of a kind. Absolutely worth watching!

I honestly never realized it's a musical. I knew there was music but it never felt like a musical to me.

Is that movie not burned into everyone's childhood? David Bowie dancing around. Dance baby, dance. If you are in your 20s, you probably don't know about it.

Take chicken to other side. Return and pick up the fox. Take the chicken back to the starting point and pick up the grain. Leave grain with fox and return for chicken.

Since you can only ever leave the grain and fox together, your hand is forced at every step. The order of the grain and fox is arbitrary.

If one of you always lies, can't I just assume the one to explain the premise is the one that tells the truth?

The fox, the grain, and then the chicken

Edit: no wait, you're still leaving the grain alone with the chicken. So you take the chicken across, then go back for the grain. You drop the grain off, and take the chicken back with you, then drop the chicken off and take the fox and take it across, then go back for the chicken

take your woodchipper, chip up guard A. point to guard b, then the woodchipper: ja or da. point to guard c, do the same. then tell them you are coming back with the woodchipper if you don't like what you find through the door, and ask them to point to which door you should go through. pointing doesn't require words.

edit: wait I know, don't ask questions, just open doors, throw the guards through and see what happens. whoever survives, take that door
