All of this was true in 2016 and it didn’t seem to matter then!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

No it wasn't. Trump wasn't remotely as unstable as he's been in just the past months. Sure, he said stupid and outrageous things, even wildly illogical things, but not like this.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, trump wasnt saying stupid shit like "i wonder if we could get the bleach into peoples lungs" and "covid will go away by easter, like magic" back then

At that time we already knew about the central park five too, Trump took out giant newspaper ads to try and get five people killed because they weren't white. This didn't deter nearly enough people, and his share of poc votes only grew after his first term too. At some point I have to think this is who we are, or at the very least this is who half of us are.

I mean - I disagree it wasn't like this. It was exactly like this. It's worse, yeah, but this same statement could very well have been made in 2016 and would have been just as true:

“If it wasn’t clear by his erratic, self-obsessed behavior, his pathological lying, his lack of moral conscience, his assaults of women, and his blatant disregard for the safety of others, more than 200 experts agree that he is unfit for office,” Conway said. “Voters need to recognize the threat we face electing this deranged man.”

It was exactly like this in 2016. It was just a lot harder for laymen to spot. Many clinicians discussed feeling a responsibility to warn vs interpretation of the "Goldwater Rule".

9 out of 10 doctors agree, Trump is unfit to be president.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

And that tenth doctor?

Ronnie Jackson.

He might be making a play for non-competence. Either his dribbling performance doesn't matter and he wins the election and pardons himself, or he is declared unfit to serve, but then gets lenient sentencing or dismissed altogether.

Stop sanewashing his dementia.

It's a glass onion. It looks like it has layers, but it's transparent.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I really appreciate this comment because I never understood that phrase before, glass onion..

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

(It's a great use of the term but originally it wasn't meant to be anything, John Lennon was specifically putting words and phrases together that didn't mean anything partly as a response to some who had 'interpreted' his lyrics to mean anything and everything)

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago

Oh. I’m not familiar with that, but I appreciate the additional context. Thanks :)

But she's doing the "C" the wrong way ;)

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago

Psycho PAC sounds like a street fighter secret shadaloo technique.

Only 230? That's disappointing

Thanks. Does the article show the ad? What's the point of an article about the ad if it doesn't show the ad.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

all its going to do is harden his peoples resolve to place him in power as they firmly believe he has to be for the "end days" to happen a la the evangelism of the last 100 years

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I tend do agree. This is very "preaching to the choir". No Trump supporters are going to watch this and change their mind.

I do think that "Trump only cares about himself" is a kind of powerful message but they only touch on that tangentially.

I was listening to a BBC podcast Americast yesterday. They went to a Trump Rally, and interviewed people afterwards. After all this time, it still surprised me to hear people talk about Trump as though he's a godly person. It was very confronting to listen to, a real demonstration of how different our perspectives are on what makes a "good" person.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

the fact that he is not godly is the point. his behaviour shows he is the "antichrist" that has to be in power for the end days to proceed

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 weeks ago

Shit I didn’t need a doctor to tell me that.
