The Republican nominee visited a new campaign office in Hamtramck, one of the nation’s only Muslim-majority cities, and was joined there by Mayor Amer Ghalib, a Democrat who has endorsed Trump.

It doesn’t matter how much you kiss his ass, Ghalib. You’ll never be white enough. He’d deport you tomorrow if he could.

Also, I won’t even get into the contradiction of a “Democrat” endorsing Trump. I hope you’re not betting the farm on reelection.

Can we come up with a new saying? The Leopard is exhausted

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, and it’s gotta weigh like 2500lbs by now. Poor obese leopard.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As an American... An American leopard?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

I suspect there are faces to be eaten all over the globe, but in this case, yes, a traditional American Face-Eating Leopard.

Don't be fooled that that mayor is a deeply religious conservative, it was just the wrong religion for the local Republicans.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Thanks for the explanation

I went out to my folks' house yesterday and I was shocked. They are in sort of a rural area and I saw exactly two Trump signs and probably twenty for Harris plus a few for prominent State democrats where they weren't displaying presidential signs.

By contrast my neighborhood is probably closer to 50/50 and we're more suburban what with having sidewalks and all.

[–] [email protected] 57 points 1 month ago (4 children)

While a lack of signs signals people losing interest in Trump, which is great, I expect the vast majority of R party line voters will still vote for him anyway because of their fear that Harris will take away their guns or force them to get abortions or out of fear of immigrants because the rest of the R party promotes the same lies and fear mongering.

They just won't be as excited about it anymore.

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I like how Trump is the only president in history to suggest banning guns.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago

That’s just following in Reagan’s footsteps, to be fair.

R party line voters will still vote for him anyway because of their fear that Harris will take away their guns

I find this funny because I’m pretty sure both she and Walz are gun owners

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They are. Walz hunts. Harris said she has a gun and would should burglars.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Any burglars in her vicinity would be taken out by the Secret Service. But if her husband was home alone, he might have to defend himself. See: Mr. Pelosi

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

In the case of the secret service I would say „should“, not „would“, after the recent incidents.

I also wonder what would have happened if Pelosi had returned while the assassin was still there. Would the secret service, without cause, have checked for someone hiding in the closet?

Of the Republicans I know, I don't think any of them are afraid of Kamala. I think they are just Republicans and the idea of actually choosing is a foreign concept.

I don't get that. I'm an independent. Have been since I could vote. In theory I would vote Republican, but in fact there hasn't been one I'd vote for since McCain lost the 2000 primary (and that includes when he won it in 2008—I don't know what they did to him, but he was a different man by then.)

But there are a lot of people who either vote their party or just stay home. This year there are barely any ads for Republican state candidates or Trump (could be I'm in a filter bubble, though). The state GOP is a smoking ruin.

There is nothing here pushing us red. This is so different from 2016 and especially 2020. I'm not a pollster. I'm not a political expert. But I just can't see any path to a Republican victory here in Michigan as we went blue in 2020 and he had so much more visible support compared to today.

But we'll see come Election Day.

Or force them to get a gay marriage.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 month ago

Fancy city slickers with your liberal sidewalks

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Unfortunately. I had the exact opposite experience. Trump/Vance signs friggin everywhere and even a damn trump megastore where they sell all things trump lol. Saw a dude walking down the street today before I flew out wearing a shirt that said "this is my pride flag" and it was just a picture of Trump's face. YMMV I guess haha

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay. Out of curiosity, is it more or less Trumpy than 2020?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Definitely more although not by a ton I'd say. but the Trump superstore wasn't there in 2020 so I think that absolutely plays a part in the increase of pro trump stuff around town lol.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

His pride flag is slobbing the knob of another dude?

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The Republican nominee visited a new campaign office in Hamtramck, one of the nation’s only Muslim-majority cities, and was joined there by Mayor Amer Ghalib, a Democrat who has endorsed Trump. Meanwhile, three city council members in the same town have endorsed Harris.

“His visit today is to show respect and appreciation to our community,” said Ghalib, who presented Trump with a framed certificate of appreciation.

Oh lord.

Participation trophies

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

I bet the award was because he said he won Michigan Man of the Year award so now he has an award from there so he's not wrong anymore.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Not a racist, but it looks like there's some brown on his nose.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I saw that in Tulsa, a bunch of teens reserved seats for the rally and didn't show up. Creating huge blocks of empty seats lol. More people should do it to him just to piss him off

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This had nothing to do with anybody reserving seats. This rally was in Detroit. His supporters are generally not the type that will venture into an urban area braving big city traffic and pay $20 at a parking garage. There's a reason he appears most often at county fairgrounds. His supporters are more the type to leave early to beat the traffic

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I went to a Ribfest in my city last week that made a Trump rally look like a daycare. Trump should just organize a Ribfest and he'd get more people showing up

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 month ago

Maybe he should try one of his little dances.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Who even goes to one of these things? I can't imagine anything I'd like to do less.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I'm starting to doubt there's repeat attendees. I think these would be locals who've not had an opportunity till now.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Asked about the Hamtramck mayor’s endorsement, Trump said: “I mean, frankly, it’s an honor. I’ve got a lot of endorsements, Arab Americans, from a lot of people.”

Incoherent. Not completely, but not a well structured sentence.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

There's plenty of actually-problematic quotes that are ripe to make fun of him for... This is in no way incomprehensible.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

party voters tend to stay home when their guy is a dud.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

that wouldve been an absolute beauty to see

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So... Where are the pics of this "empty" rally? I watched a video that seemed to have a thin audience in the background. If "empty" is the headline, should be pretty easy to show the pathetic crowd, right?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago

The Express is a garbage UK tabloid news source now trying to make it in the US. I wouldn’t believe anything in it until I see it reported elsewhere, much as I enjoy stories about Trump rallies being dumpster fires.
