An Israeli attack on Beit Lahiya, a town in northern Gaza, killed at least 73 Palestinians on Saturday evening, according to the enclave's government media office.

More than 100 others were wounded and several people missing.

Israeli air strikes targeted a multi-floor building and damaged a number of nearby houses, medics in the Gaza Strip reported.

The government media office said that Israeli forces had bombed overcrowded residential areas in Beit Lahiya, adding that women and children were amongst the casualties.

Israeli murder of civlians is so normalized that its hardly even making the news anymore.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 weeks ago

It's hard for me to even track when it's an article with more details about a previous massacre versus a report of a new massacre. Israel attacks civilians with such frequency that there's a new slaughter even as the previous one is just being fully reported.

Part of the problem is that the images suck. Honestly. Here we see a bunch of body bags, we know literally nothing about who's in them. But on Oct. 7 there were lots of images and video of what happened, with people's faces visible.

The most effective thing that could be done to support Palestinians, infinitely more effective than spray painting neighborhoods and camping in public spaces, would be to give them cameras and a means of releasing video. As long as it's just numbers, no one will care.

The thing is. There's been loads of first hand evidence about the victims. You know the person who got burned in the hospital with IVs still attached to his hand? His name is Shaban al-Dalou. He's a 19 year old aspiring software engineer who never got to finish his studies and work as an engineer because he was murdered.

There's a lot of stories like this, if you just want to look. The western media fucking surpresses this stories because they don't want us to humanize the Palestinians.

spoken out of ignorance, they're broadcasting and Israel is killing the ones that are.

Because showing 73 military soldiers dead isn't going to inspire sympathy from idiots in the west and get Hamas propaganda pieces written.

I've lost faith at this point.

Canada's Prime Minister just posted something about the October 7th incident like it's the most horrible thing to happen in the Middle East, when there's a literal Holocaust happening in all of Palestine.

It's fucking tone deaf.

But he's got the anti defamation league and B'nai B'rith breathing down his neck at the same time. So it doesn't matter what we do or say or how much we write to them or protest, they still won't fucking listen.

And somehow, the conservatives are high in the polls for the next election somehow.

It make zero sense.

Damn, Canadian politics sounds pretty bad too right now. Seems like Fascism is rising everywhere in the Western countries

It makes a bit more sense when you remember countries like Canada, the UK and Germany are on America's leash.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Which is in turn on Netanyahu's leash.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

WTF do you want us Germans to do? Read the Einstein-Ardent letter from 1948 to the New York Times, good old Albert hit the nail on the head and I fully agree with him.

I don't think its a good idea to compare it to the holocaust.

Genocide takes many different forms. Its still a genocide even if the people aren't being exterminated by toxic gas and their remains burned in ovens.

Gaza is still a concentration camp even if they're not wearing prison clothes and forced to work for the Israeli State.

Genocides take many different forms, but if you call this a Holocaust then you're just falling into a Hasbara trap that's very easy to prove you wrong.

Call it a genocide, not a Holocaust.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They've been systematically eliminating Gazans at this point. Concentrating them in camps and them bombing the camps. Setting fire to them with incendiary bombs. They've had snipers shoot children. They've been systematically and indiscriminately killing everyone. They've almost wiped out the entire population of Gaza.

What makes that different from a Holocaust?

According to History.com:

The Holocaust was the state-sponsored persecution and mass murder of millions of European Jews, Romani people, the intellectually disabled, political dissidents and homosexuals by the German Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945. The word “holocaust,” from the Greek words “holos” (whole) and “kaustos” (burned), was historically used to describe a sacrificial offering burned on an altar.

After years of Nazi rule in Germany, dictator Adolf Hitler’s “Final Solution”—now known as the Holocaust—came to fruition during World War II, with mass killing centers in concentration camps. About six million Jews and some five million others, targeted for racial, political, ideological and behavioral reasons, died in the Holocaust—more than one million of those who perished were children.

What's happening right now is no different from that. Anyone that's Arab in the region has faced state-sponsered persecution and mass murder. Israel is burning everything down from Gaza to the West Bank to Lebanon and it'll keep going beyond those borders into Syria and even Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

That's their "final solution". It's to kill everyone in those region or get rid of them one way or another. They're experimenting how far they can push the limits of their international support.

If you think I'm wrong, I'd like to hear your arguments.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What you're describing is a genocide. Its a genocide that's very different from the holocaust.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm asking you to explain to me what is so different from what is happening in Gaza to a Holocaust.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

As I said above, they're not wearing the same clothing made of black and white stripes. They're not doing slave labor. They're not being gassed with the same chemicals. They're not being burned in ovens.

Its a genocide with different mechanisms of extermination. The 2013 Gaza Genocide is very different from the Rwandan Genocide, just as the 2013 Gaza Genocide is very different from the Holocaust.

[–] [email protected] -5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Gaza is still a concentration camp even if they're not wearing prison clothes and forced to work for the Israeli State.

It's not a concentration camp, it's a hostile foreign territory that carries on launching hundreds of rockets into Israel.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Gaza has a right to defend itself

[–] [email protected] 40 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Where is Netanyahu's arrest warrant for fucks sake?

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Next to the peace deal and the stop order for arms shipments.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

take heart, Biden says he is very concerned. Harris too. Any day now he's going to stop the shipments and start poking netenyahu forcefully in the chest, screaming in his face, making threats.

/s. I'm just messing with you.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Doesn't he literally have one from the ICC? And the US Govt sanctioned the ICC over it rather than help enforce it?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

They opened the process up for "comments and objections". Israels allies like Germany flooded the court with "comments and objections" that have to be worked through, before deciding on the warrant.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I don't think Germans should be able to play the "hey listen to us we're genocide experts" card at the UN.

Its super antisemitic of them to shout over the voices of Jews crying "never again" as they witness the genocide in Palestine unfold.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

At the ICC it is not about genocide though. It is about specific war crimes. The "objection" by Germany was also not about qualifying what happened, but something procedural along the lines of saying there shouldn't be a prosecution while there still is war. Which of course is equally absurd.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Germany once again is on the wrong side of history. There's something rotten in the water in the Rhine.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's actually conservatism and classic white supremacy, but the sentiment is appreciated.

16 years of Merkel really had us fooled about the fact that her party would be almost begging to jump on the far-right populist train and cut the brakes under today's leadership.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Does he? I think they're still doing procedures or some shit.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Holy crap, you're right

However the request for the warrants must yet be approved by ICC judges.

They really need to speed things up...

Plus that means the US sanctioned the ICC for just requesting an arrest warrant

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago

Plus that means the US sanctioned the ICC for just requesting an arrest warrant

Exactly. To be precise they sanctioned the prosecutor who requested the warrant IIRC.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Biden blocked it and told us it would interfere with his ceasefire deal that was just days away. But that was months ago and turns out to have been another lie.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 weeks ago

Mango Mussolini said President Biden was too easy on Israel.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago

They want to see if they can accidentally kill some Hamas leaders like last time

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

When capitalists develop the Gaza strip their sacrifice shall not be forgotten, just like in the US and Native Americans.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah but can we try to stop it before that happens?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

'Horrifying massacre': Iranian attack on Jerusalem kills at least 73 Israelis

..... funny how this headline draws more attention than the real one

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Were they civilians?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago

Israel should be abandoned by the U.S. entirely at this point. There is no reason to continue any type of relationship with these genocidal shitbags.
