Well, it is middle-eastern babies. Not like they're white babies or something.

Hey, you're not supposed to say this out loud!
Yeah. I can. They've BARELY lived. They might not even be sapient yet if you get them early enough. You can just make more and very little developmental progress would be lost. The resource impact is minuscule compared to the loss of full fledged, experienced, skilled, specialized adults. It's excusable AND I'M TIRED OF PRETENDING IT'S NOT.
Wait shit I thought we were only talking about white ones. Nevermind.
Finally someone on Lemmy is making sense. I'm not saying anyone should ever kill anyone else but, if you really had to for some reason, the most logical choices are the youngest and oldest people available. This of course assumes everyone is in decent health.
Huh... I thought that comment was so absurd that the /s wasn't necessarily. Guess I was wrong. Sorry mods.
I mean, they're just babies. How good can they really even be at murdering? I'll give em a pass. Now a couple dozen murdering toddlers with knives? At that point we may have a problem. I'm pretty sure I could still take them, but I'll probably need stitches before it's over.
You doing this barehanded? I'd at least give you a stick or something.
You give me a bat and they're going to be annihilated.
I dig your style.
I've completely lost the thread.
Israel attacked UN peacekeepers.
Multiple times, voluntarily
I mean, how do you attack someone involuntarily? Or you mean voluntarily as in not by accident?
Yeah, perhaps "intentionally instead of accidentally".
Pay no attention to the Hezbollah operated tunnel system near the compounds lookout tower.
Pay no attention to history. Israel is just loving the aftermath of the Oct 7 2023 attack. That attack was a gift. also Netanyahu gets to continue avoiding the consequences of his actions.
There is a difference though, and that is that while babies tend to be in the vicinity of adults, that could potentially be terrorists, you cannot make the same assumption (if you were to actually be make it in the former case) about uniformed and distinctly marked UN-peacekeepers that have their own bases. Attacking that letter can not be collateral damage or be an attack on potential terrorists, while the former could with a lot of mental gymnastics be legitimised (though not morally justified).
And let's be real, international diplomacy is the art of mental gymnastics at olympic level.
you cannot make the same assumption (if you were to actually be make it in the former case) about uniformed and distinctly marked UN-peacekeepers that have their own bases.
Actually, that's exactly what the Israeli government did, they said they were trying to attack Hezbollah bases and the Peacekeepers should leave the area. And somehow, some people believe them.
I think it was more along the lines of, "I'm not sure I believe they're actually targeting kids." And then, "oh my God the UN has video evidence of Israel targeting peace keepers."
I don't think most people are okay with killing kids. The hurdle is getting them to realize it is happening.
I'd believe that if it wasn't for all the video evidence of them killing kids, or the fact the average age in Gaza before the genocide was already under 16.
The point is people can hand waive a lot to feel better about the world they live in. I'm not going to complain because it took this other thing to get them to the realization. I'm just going to welcome them in. In fact this is the exact kind of meme I would run if I was trying to push people away from the BDS movement.
How can anyone not be sure, with all the videos, the reports from the NGO, hell even the bragging from the IDF
Because it's contrary to the narrative they already believe. Facts don't change feelings. At least not at the pace they should.
