I'm actually very surprised that she said that. Was this Harris stumbling off script, or will she continue saying it?

What does it feel like to turn off your brain?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 hours ago

Kind of the same way that liberals turn a blind eye to war crimes being committed by their own people.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 hours ago

They don't have one in the first place...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

What about Harris — specifically — do you perceive to be fascist?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

When she is willingly taking money from fascist governments and boasting that she is receiving endorsements from war criminals and people that Democrats themselves labeled as fascist, they are fascist.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

So a useless definition then... Got it...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 hours ago

Does the idea that your party openly welcomes war criminal fascists into the fold make you feel warm and fuzzy?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

So by that criteria, which American presidents haven't been fascist?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Then I must conclude you're not using a reasonable definition of fascism.

Fascism is characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy and forcible suppression of opposition, all things which Trump has very explicitly stood for. He's basically said he's gonna kill off his political opponents, and that it's gonna be legal and there's not gonna be any repercussions for him.

I'd like for you to make a case like that against literally each and every single president of the US. You genuinely believe Jimmy Carter was striving to be a dictator?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Much of the conflict within the Middle East was started by Jimmy Carter.

And DOD directive 5240.01 updated Sept 27, 2024 is already laying the groundwork, under Biden, to allow US military to assist in addressing descent in the US up to and including harm or death. The things that liberals say are going to happen under Trump are already laying the foundation to have it happen under Biden.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 hours ago

So your criteria for someone not being a fascist is not being involved in any military conflicts, at all?

Okay, so guess that means that pretty much all world leaders are fascists.

See what I meant with "not a reasonable definition of fascism"? The definition of any ideology might be a little fuzzy, but you're definitely colouring over the lines.

The things that liberals say are going to happen under Trump are already laying the foundation to have it happen under Biden.

Such as having a dictator who can freely do whatever they want without consequences, while exploiting the country and it's people and resources as much as they can (while actually being Putin's bitch)?

But not the whole GOP.

At least, not in her opinion. Or at least not the ones she plans to appoint to her own cabinet.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Has she said who she would appoint? The only time I ever saw anything about this she was asked "would you consider putting Republicans in your cabinet?" And she said she would. Will she, possibly/probably. That said it is a twist of her words to say that she will.

Me saying "I would" consider a date with Carrie Underwood, doesn't mean I will go on one.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

We were talking about fascist dictators here, but i can see why you'd confuse that with Republicans in general.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Trump is a fascist and wants to be a dictator, that's true. Fascism is also not exclusive to Trump in the Republican Party. The Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 are core to the GOP, not just Trump.

Criticizing Biden/Harris for conceding to right-wing lies like on immigration or for wanting to integrate Republicans into her Cabinet are completely valid criticisms. She should be attacking them on every fascist policy they advocate for and countering them with progressive policies that are popular

[–] [email protected] 0 points 17 hours ago

Yeah. I want more Khans. I do not want more Garlands.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Never said it was exclusive to Trump. It's kind of hard for me to believe you actually think I was implying that and aren't just trying to ignore the point I was making about false equivalency.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 18 hours ago

No, not you based on your comment. I think we're in agreement. It seemed like the people downvoting treefrog did when they were simply criticizing Harris' idea of appointing a republican cabinet member.

Trump is fascist for a lot more than just aiming to become a 'day one' dictator, and most of that is congruent with the GOP as a whole. If Harris recognizes what makes Trump a fascist, which she does, I would think she would also recognize the issue with bringing a Republican to her cabinet.

If it walks like a duck...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 18 hours ago

Check it's diapers.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago

Fucking Christ finally!

They call democrats every name under the sun whether it applies or not. About time they call a fascist a fascist...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

the party of "he tells it like it is!!" has to scramble and do damage control in a panic every time trump opens his stupid face anus

[–] [email protected] 0 points 19 hours ago

Maybe they used to. They don't bother anymore.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago

Not just can, should.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

I've called him a lot of names. This is just one.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 19 hours ago

I have invent new insults every few days because the old ones get used up too quickly

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago

calling him a name? it's stating a fact

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

So has she. This is just in public.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

She almost called him something else in the debate.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 19 hours ago

"Listen here you mother-fascist"
