Automatism in the age of the children of Unix.

It's a box of antique photographs. A blade, a girl and a fish. Whatever it means, you're invested.

What is happening here? Is this bots talking to bots in the comments? What is this art? I'm so confused.

I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the Tesla "robot" showed off at an event that turned out to just be a guy in a suit on top of the other things already mentioned by others.

There's a paywall on that article

This is a webcomic / art relating to the FOSS world. OP is the artist and has tons of fucking amazing surreal comics like this. They all take place in a dystopian cyber world where corporate technology oppresses the free tech users

The commenters probably aren't bots, just tech nerds schizo posting

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay yea I've seen some pretty decent stuff being posted here but never have any context lol

I could see schizo posting rather than bots.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

There's a bit more context in the full comics on the web site

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What the fuck is happening in the comic tho?

Sniper thought it shot a robot because of the outfit. It wasn't a robot that got shot.

"AI Wars" is likely in reference to big tech companies in real life fighting each other for dominance over the generative AI space. Meta's AI vs Google's Gemini vs OpenAI's ChatGPT etc ...

To me this comic reads as if a personified company AI was actually at war and killing enemy AIs. Except the AI that got shot was secretly a human in disguise

This is the moment Elmo jumped the shark.

The original mechanical turk prank was better.

...also, if you were really engineering a machine that could mix different drinks it would just be a bunch of pumps and tubes to various ingredients.

The sun is shocked, absolutely shocked, I say!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I have a slight suspicion that it actually enjoys violence.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Well it is known to emit radiation that messes with electronics. That must be very violent for our surreal friends!

The Thespian robot (and others) could mirror a human's movement 10 years ago. Even if Optimus is actually mechanical, the recent "interacting with a crowd" video makes it quite obvious there is no AI.
