given the choices, valid campaign strategy.

Same fucking bullshit in Canada. "Fuck Trudeau" just so we can get fucked by Pierre. Will people ever learn or will it be this way the rest of my life? It's just fucking depressing how stupid the general public is.

Remember when the liberal party of Canada promised electoral reform and then said "oopsie daisy, we couldn't get it done. Now you have to vote for us or else you gets the conservatives again."?

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that you dont get representation in exchange for your vote. No big deal right? Gee golly, governing is hard after all.

You wouldn't understand because you're not allowed to govern. You're also not allowed in their club. You're not even allowed on the premises where the club is.

Feeling free yet?

Canadians have never voted a government in in my lifetime, we just vote the last government out.

On the upside, municipal politics is where you are likely to see the most impact to your daily life, and those guys aren't in parties outside major cities, and even the major city parties don't aligin with the normal 2.5 flavours of prov/fed politics.

Lmao we have someone in Jail running for president he's convicted of 12 years imprisonment and wants to be president there's no bigger presidential joke than this

that's actually one of the better things about your system. you can't take your political opposition out of the race by arresting them.

Stupidly enough, felons may not be allowed to vote depending on the state or some shit

actually one of the better things

is it really though?

It backfires when the crimes are seen by everyone and the justice takes years. Imagine if Ginny Thomas had been indicted around May 2021. That takedown may have neutered the supreme court's overreaches (immunity, roe, etc) - yet here we are.

When the criminals get away with their crimes on the national stage over and over again, maybe some people need to be arrested and prevented from participating in the very election system they undermined.

One side is using that faith in the process to undermine the entire institution.

Not sure why you're downvoted.

This is painfully obvious and half of the country (more likely 1/4th but enough to swing a vote) agrees.

What an absolute fucking tragedy.

Have you ever wondered why it's never been different?

Ah yes, the Keir Starmer school of winning elections.

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this. Not just for the presidency, but with civic leaders also. Hell. It's the same with propositions, too... Neither side wants to detail their proposed actions, instead opting to sling muck.

State level electoral reform will force both legacy political parties to compete to earn your vote.

If the republicans and democrats are to weak to compete without First Past The Post voting as a crutch, that's on them.
