So based on a random articles I found in internet, mass density of vegetable oil is around 900kg/m^3, and gasoline 800kg/m^3, and since we know that E (energy) equals to m (mass) times c^2 (speed of light squared), we can tell that veggie oil indeed is more energy dense than gasoline.

Hyperfocus is an amazing tool, unfortunately we have no fucking control over it.

In The Fellowship of the Ring, Glorfindel's role in guiding Frodo Baggins to Rivendell is filled by Arwen, though he does appear during the prologue when Sauron is defeated. In The Return of the King, Glorfindel is seen walking next to Arwen as she is having her vision of her son Eldarion during the journey to the Grey Havens. In his last appearance, he is seen at the crowning of King Elessar, behind Legolas and in front of Arwen. In all appearances in the movies he has no speaking lines

You're right in that there should be safe space for pedestrians and cyclists to travel, but it's exactly the same reason as the crane case: to keep them safe from dangerous cars and other heavy vehicles.

Repeating again, I do agree with your point but the reasoning you used was just wrong. You don't walk blind in front of a moving car because it's fucking dumb thing to do. There's an imperfect human driving a 2 ton imperfect vehicle traveling at high speed. You WILL always lose if anything goes wrong, were you right or wrong.

Human is also operating that crane. You wouldn't trust the operator AND the machine to work flawlessly enough to walk under the load

It's all the same to me

Gearboxes are amazing! Unfortunately they've had really hard time competing with derailleur because of pedalling efficiency :(

Also price is so high that lot of people who'd want low maintenance system, wouldn't be able to afford it

Don't have any electric vehicles, but my bicycle stays the favorite week after week. Small playful trail bike is just a crapton of fun to commute or whatever. Fancy a route through forest? No problem. A steep staircase? Awesome! It can take anything you can possibly throw at it on your route or detour

It's not very efficient on asphalt or gravel but the fun makes up for it

Yeah. I do agree with vegans in that humans should transition to a diet that's more sustainable and removes the animal suffering from the equation - and I do put in some effort to reduce my use of animal based products but: god damnit some people of that community are some seriously insufferable people to converse with

~50 km away another (same type) bike for comparison

And small earlier type (~1936)

Hey all, do we have any suspension nerds here?

I have some annoying troubles with the rear suspension on my 2017 Focus Vice trail bike. The shock is Rockshox deluxe select R with max tokens inside and 250psi air pressure (~20% sag)

Long story short, I keep bottoming out the rear suspension regularly on jumps and drops way easier than I'm comfortable with, but with the amount of pressure in the shock the ride starts feeling pretty harsh as well

So what I've thought as options, but might need some more validation:

  • bigger bike and/or bike with more progressive suspension curve

Eh, don't really want to replace bike I otherwise love

  • different shock?

Not sure what I would look there tbh, also gets pricy but not as bad as a whole new bike

  • messing with the shock tune

The shock doesn't have externally adjustable high/low speed compression, but perhaps could adjust the shim stack? This is completely alien stuff for me so some ideas/advice would be appreciated

  • there's a megneg air can upgrade kit available for the shock

This increases the negative volume giving more mid-strike support, plushier initial feeling and more bottom out force using less tokens as claimed by rockshox. This upgrade kit is not terribly expensive, but is it worth if I'd better be going with a new shock anyways?

Hello fellow lemmings,

I'm glad to have discovered this magnificent sub community, and it made me think of a recent hike with my little spawn. During the rather long for her, 2 hourish and 4000 step hike, she kept collecting sticks from the ground and regularly dropping the least favorite ones to make more space in her little hands.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this story, but just wanted to say hello and I'm glad this community exists. I hope you'll stick around (badum-tss)

This is a topic that has been very personal to me last years so felt like it's a good idea to post this here
