Hers was a great step forward for Asian-American representation in media. I can only hope that she has and will inspire others to achieve greatness.

It’s a testament to TNG that even the non-bridge crew are familiar to the audience. Nice character development all around and talented actors.

So many of the side characters that we didn't often see made the shows feel real. Wasn't it Yesterday's Enterprise, or maybe one of the other alternate reality ones, where she was Chief Medical Officer and not Crusher?

Parallels, where Worf jumps through alternate timelines.

She passed away after battling cancer if anyone is wondering

Very sorry to hear it. She didn't have much of a character but she was hard not to notice.

I actually just finished watching Genesis just now.

Before having read this news.

TIL Nurse Ogawa's first name was Alyssa. I have no memory of her being called anything but Nurse Ogawa.

Crusher: “Alyssa lost the baby”

TNG S07E25 - “All Good Things…”

Crusher also uses her first name in First Contact when they’re evacuating Sick Bay.

Pretty sure Beverly says her name in First Contact too, just as the Borg are breaking into sickbay.

Good point. I'd have to scan through the episodes myself to confirm, because I dont recall Beverly or anyone else mentioning her by anything other than Nurse Ogawa.

I literally just watched that episode the other day, but I don't recall which one. It's late S6 or early S7 but it is said on screen.

Beverly must have called her that at least once when they were having a more personal moment. It just must have never registered.

Maybe when they chat about the guy who becomes her fiance.

She called her Alyssa in the first act of "Clues" as well.

Has Lower Desks given us a “where is she now?” Moment for Ogawa yet?

Can't say I can think of one. Would be a nice opportunity to throw in a dedication at this point. Have to be late in the season, as I imagine much of the production is completed by now.
