Hi,

I'm not new to Lemmy, but I've only recently gotten Voyager (+ a brand new acct) and it's pretty confusing. I'm looking for an option in the app that shows all possible communities for a given instance. Is that possible?

Thanks~

I believe if you go to 'Search", there is an 'Explore' option there.

Huh, maybe I'm blind but I only see a list of trending communities and a random community button... Unless there's something I'm missing, I think I'll just get the list using a web browser for now. Thanks~

You need to update the app

This 'explore' option showed up after the last update to voyager... Do you have the latest version?

Oops, I didn't realize the app got an update. I see the option now, ty

You could try communities focused on finding new communities:

You could try this site: https://lemmyverse.net/

Also like others have said, you could try using the search function in the Voyager app but you kind of have to know the name of them first.

I'd also try different sorting algorithms in All every now and then, like new, hot, and Scaling (which weighs smaller communities higher, a good way to find new places).

Glad to help! Just a note that the *last community I mentioned is for people to encourage each other, gather support, and get ideas on how to grow communities that might be small or nonexistent on Lemmy, since we're still quite new.

So if you want to discuss something that you think others would be interested in that you haven't spotted on Lemmy yet, feel free or start it and grow it!

I might hop in sometime.

Quick take, I imagine posting more content to nascent communities so they make a bigger presence in the main feed would likely be a big help. Unfortunately it seems a lot of great people are still at the other place, probably because of the active, niche communities there, not to mention some of them thinking Lemmy is more complex or difficult than it really is...

Click posts in the lower left corner, above the posts there should be a drop down that says home, click that and select all.

Edit: missed that you wanted all for a specific instance, sorry about the confusion.

That shows posts from all federated instances, right? It's one way to find communities, but if something hasn't been posted to a community for a while I might not see it...

Yes, it will show all federated instances.

Found another one I forgot to mention before:

It seems I found it elsewhere since I'm already subscribed... (Funny seeing dbzer0 though, since I thought lemmy.world defederated from that instance a while back.)

Thanks again for the links, btw. i've already got a nice list of subbed communities going.
