Accidental Renaissance

AccidentalRenaissance is for photos that look like Renaissance paintings.

This means that they look like Renaissance art in their composition, their coloring, their saturation, the angle of the scene, the types of settings, etc.

πŸ‘‰ Must be a photo. Not a meme, drawing, art, ai-generated or ai-enhanced image, screenshot, low-effort post, meta posts, video, or anything else but a photo.

πŸ‘‰ Must be SFW. No gore, porn, extreme violence, blood, corpses, or similarly disturbing content. Absolutely no pornography, even if it's "tasteful".

πŸ‘‰ Comments must be civil. No slurs of any kind or using words to insult, demean, harass, or abuse other individuals or groups.

πŸ‘‰ The Renaissance part (not the photo itself) must be accidental to the photograph. In other words, no photos of Renaissance fairs, people dressed in medieval/Renaissance clothes, etc.

πŸ‘‰ NO influencer selfies, professional photoshoots with watermarks, any type of OnlyFans-like content. We are not the place to work your side-hustle.

πŸ“Έ If you know who the photographer is, give them credit in the comment section. This is the only type of self-promotion we allow.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦― Alt-Text for vision-impaired users in the post body or in the comments is highly encouraged. Just pretend you are describing a photo to someone on the phone.

It's not flying upside down fwiw. It's flying parallel to the ground aloft on a wire between two cranes.

That's obvious and was not claiming it was actually upside down, I just found that detail uncanny seen from that angle

It wasn't clear from your wording, but here we are. 😚

The "here we are" was for the accidental renaissance part

Yes. I know.

Even when hanging the flag vertically, this is the correct orientation, with the stars in the upper left.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Really?

I’d have thought the stars should be on the right side when hanging vertically, since it would be rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the standard position.

I have no idea which way is correct, this is just my intuitive reasoning.

Yep, according to the US Flag Code:

When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag’s own right, that is, to the observer’s left.

TBF, it does have different instructions about how to display the flag outdoors, hard to tell from this perspective if it was actually hung properly.

Cool thanks for looking that up, TIL!

Photographer should have deleted that image...

Because it'll make look Trump look heroic?

That was my first thought too, because Trump is a horrible, vicious fuckwit, but now I'm not so sure.

The photographer's job is to document what happened, and this does that. On a purely aesthetic/journalistic level this is a hell of a photo. I don't think it'd be right to delete it just because of how it might get used later, or by whom.

I hate, hate, HATE that MAGAs will make this iconic, don't get me wrong. But the photographer captured a major news event, while literally under fire (albeit the shooting had just stopped) and I think that deserves respect and recognition.

You said it perfectly. While politically unfortunate given how it will be used, it's incredible as a photo for all the reasons you mentioned. Great presence of mind to be able to capture a shot this good in the midst of the chaos unfolding.

This, but also applied to the event itself. We'd be better off without Trump and he certainly incites plenty of violence against his opponents, but I'm genuinely concerned about other implications. General security measures, inciting further violence to get even, or further violence to get ahead.

I talked to a 75 year old Democrat about it. They were unphased. I was shocked, but they put it into context: they saw JFK, RFK, and MLK get assassinated. They saw Lee Harvey Oswald get shot to death on live TV. They saw the attempt on Reagan. Those events aren't that long ago. Me? The worst I saw with a US president was someone threw a shoe at Bush. 9/11 was awful and Flight 93 was intended for the White House, but, with all its associated changes, traumas, and threats, that's still a different class.

Now for the Faux News style comment: what if this was planned? Did Trump order a fake hit and slap a blood packet on his ear? I don't know, I'm just asking questions! Because what's a better boost to a competition than a survival story?

Did Trump order a fake hit and slap a blood packet on his ear?

Well he is friends with Vince McMahon and is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. If anyone knows how to stage fake blood cuts(or razor blade cuts) it would be him.

The Reagan attempt was 40 years ago. Average US citizen is 38 years old. Half of America was born after these events, let alone remember them

Please no... Truth denial should stay in that camp

It makes Trump look like some kind of hero and it'll be used in heavy propaganda

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

I understand that's their work but that looks like a "I made a booboo" kinda hug.
