I suggest a Google Pixel, they have the least issues with custom roms since they basically already run stock android.

I run Lineage on my Pixel 4a 5G + MindTheGApps, works fantastic.
I plan on switching to LineageOS next year once my 4a 5G system updates run out
Basically any device that is listed on the top of their compatibility list, so pixel.
I'm personally running lineage 20 on an fxtec pro1 with great success though.
I have an OnePlus 7 Pro, and it works very good on LineageOS.
I have a 7T and it is terrible. It is buggy and just randomly stops receiving phone calls. That eventually forced me away.
So I feel like OnePlus and lineageos is kind of hit or miss at this point. No where near as stable as the earlier days of lineage.
If you're in the USA, you're pretty much stuck with the Pixel line or certain OnePlus models. VoLTE is not working on most custom ROMs in the US.
Went with the Pixel 5. It's working well so far. I got a used factory unlocked model in good condition for $175
Sweet. I'm still on a 3a.
Pixel anything
Been out of the custom ROM game on Android for a while, so I may be off the mark. But if I were going to get back in, Pixel 6a is some pretty good hardware bang for the buck. As long as you don't need a giant screen or premium build quality, I think I'd go that route.
Fairphone 4, I won't go back to non-repairable ones
I use redmi note 7 and it works like a clock, but I've heard that one of the best devices is Google Pixel. Specifically I reccomend Pixel 3, bc you can buy it "cheap" (around 150-200 eur) and it's pretty resistant, fast, has good connectivity and so
Pixel tends to have the best support from 3rd-party ROMs as well as the easiest installation with its unlockable bootloader.
