One plus Nord. Didn't have to much money to spend then, so bought this one, has pretty good support, so running on Pixel experience since more than a year. Pretty satisfied, planning to shift to a Pixel phone next year
Well, to be honest, I'm using an iPhone 6S. I want to switch to an Android phone, but I really want one with a headphone jack, an easily-replaceable battery, /e/ support, and good enough specs to last several years with multiple major OS updates. The Fairphone 4 looked great until I found out about the headphone jack being absent. Well, that and if anything was wrong with it, I'd be screwed. I've read about enough Fairphone defects to not want to have one imported.
I came pretty close to buying a Sony Xperia 5 III about six months ago, but I decided against it due to the battery being annoyingly difficult to replace.
Shift phone seems like an interesting Fairphone alternative, but availability in the US seems tough. Hopefully the new EU law on replaceable batteries will make improve the situation worldwide.
Recently switched from a OnePlus 3t to a Asus ZenFone 8
I'm using Huawei Mate 20 x.
Yes. But there is always room for improvement.
I will use this phone as long as I can.
I had a samsung phone for a short time but my main 2 phones before Huawei was Xiamoi Redmi 9t and LG.
None.
Android all the way.
Pixel 6a. I really like the pixels but when they are rooted.
I'm using an LG V40 and I love it. The best phone i've ever owned. Love the dual screen case, love the headphone jack and it's incredible DAC, love the rear fingerprint sensor. it's the perfect phone for my use case. I've previously owned the LG V30, and the LG V20.
I basically only ever upgrade if my phone breaks. The only other android device I own is my NVIDIA shield that runs plex etc.
No apple devices for me, except i guess my work laptop but that's not really mine, and i certainly wouldn't buy a macbook if i was in the market for a laptop.
I still boot up my LG V30 from time to time and am so impressed with how well they did with the fingerprint sensor, the feel of the haptics, and that DAC . . . AND they managed to make it so thin and light.
What phone are you using? Galaxy S23 Ultra 512GB
Are you happy with it? What are its best and worst qualities? Really happy with it. Got it recently. I love the battery, the screen quality, the camera quality, the speed.
I don't like that the image editing sometimes grabs a different image than the one captured, but it's only when zoomed.
Which phones have you had previously? Which were the best and worst of the lot? I had the S5, S7, S10+, I tried out the iPhone 11 and went back to the S23U.
I liked the S10+ best, and S5 least because it heated and died overnight lol.
How often do you upgrade to a new phone? Not that often. Usually 3-4 years?
What other Android ecosystem devices do you have? Watches, headphones/earbuds, etc. None. The ecosystem is pretty garbage honestly. I have Airpods, and an Amazefit watch with notify firmware.
Do you also use any Apple products, or are you Android all the way? (And/or Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, etc.) I use Windows for gaming, MacOS for laptop, Airpods for headphones. The right tool for the job makes all the difference. :)
OnePlus 6T
It's been around for a while now but it's still got decently strong specs for a phone even by today's standards. Normally replace phones every 3 years but I've had my 6T for 4 so far and it's still a brilliant phone, easily the best I've owned. Only thing I dislike about it is the lack of a micro SD slot
Not really a fan of iPhones tbh I think they're very overpriced for what they offer in comparison to Android. I do use an iPad pro, but that's about it for my iOS usage. I run Windows on PC plus Windows and Ubuntu on my work laptop
Currently using a Nokia 7.2
Best qualities:
- Cheap
- Has a heaphone jack
- Does smartphone things
- Fell like 5 times from more than a meter of height into a stone floor and is somehow still fine (more luck than skill probably)
Worst qualities:
- Not the fastest
- No more updates :(
- Randomly turns off about once every month at night while charging, which forced me to buy a backup alarm
Before this I was using a Moto G5 plus, which was a bit of a quirky phone. Before that I used my Nexus 5, which ultimately started suffering the power button issues. My Nexus 5 is still a backup phone that I use sometimes, and every time I touch it I wish that they'd release a new Nexus 5 just like the old one but with with newer hardware specs and a better battery. I love how light and small it is, I still love the screen, and I love how it looks.
From this you can probably gather that I don't upgrade phones too often. I also don't have any other Android devices. I did at one point dabble a bit into Android development and made a few silly apps, but that's many years ago at this point.
For my PC's I usually use Linux where I can, and Window$ for gaming and music production (because sadly that's the only way to make these things work reliably).
What phone are you using? Pixel 7 Pro Hazel
Are you happy with it? What are its best and worst qualities? Happy so far but I've only had it for two days! Best qualities are definitely battery life, camera and control I get with an Android phone.
Which phones have you had previously? Which were the best and worst of the lot? iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro Max, S21 Ultra, iPhone 11, iPhone XR, Pixel 3XL Pixel 2XL, Pixel.
Best: iPhone 12 Pro Max and Pixel 3XL Worst: iPhone 12 Mini and S21 Ultra
How often do you upgrade to a new phone? I used to upgrade very 6mo - 1yr because I had a connection. The iPhone 12 mini was the first time in a long time that I went a complete two years before upgrading.
What other Android ecosystem devices do you have? Watches, headphones/earbuds, etc. None
Do you also use any Apple products, or are you Android all the way? (And/or Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, etc.) I'm using Airpod Pros simply because I don't want to pay for another pair of buds but wouldn't mind if I got the Pixel Bud Pros as a gift or something.
Edit: Added the best and worst phone experiences
Currently: Samsung S21 FE 5G Overall I like it....it's snappy and does what I need. Not a huge fan or OneUI, Samsung's take on Android. Got it for wireless charging mostly.
Previous Phones: Motorola Z2 Force - my favorite Android phone, just not fast enough today. Loved the Moto Mods Nexus 6 - Loved it at the time, but became too big for me and went for smaller to follow it. Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S... iPhone 3GS - First and Last iPhone...got tired of jailbreaking to use it the way I wanted to.
My upgrades have mostly been by choice leading up to the Z2 Force. Got them as new ones I liked came out. After that it was out of necessity.
Other Android I use: We have 3 NVidia shields in front of my media center running Emby. I've had a couple of Android SmartWatches, but don't currently have one.
I'm on Windows 10 for my primary PC/Laptop. Linux powers my servers. My dad uses Apple Products, has a iPhone 13 Pro, some iPad, and a Watch 8. I'm his caregiver as he is getting older. Not really looking to switch him as it works for him.
Pixel 6. I'm really happy with it for the most part and have never had any issues with it. My biggest gripe is that the under-screen fingerprint scanner is slower and more inconsistent than the physical ones on the Pixel 3 and 5, but it's not a deal-breaker.
My current phone:
- Xiaomi POCO X4 Pro
- Android 12
- MIUI 13.0.4
I'm quite satified with it(UI is improved with custom launcher), minor hitch is accelerated battery drainage (came with 2+ years of use).
Previous phones: POCO F1, ULEFONE S1, Nokia Lumia 520, Sony Xperia Go, ... Loved my Go, ulefone was definately worst of bunch.
My upgrades are attached to battery health and/or OS upgrades support from manifacturer. My upgrade track to current phone is about 3 years.
I'm Android and Windows all the way.
I'm using a Google Pixel 6a.
I am very happy with it. Price makes it unmatched in my eyes, although the battery could be better.
Before this I had a Pixel 4XL which had awful battery life, but was still a major upgrade from my old Samsung galaxy S3. I have only upgraded because I've got a "problem reading your battery error" and replacing the battery didnt solve it.
I very very rarely upgrade and just use custom ROMS to expand the life of each of my old phones, building my own ROMs in necessary.
For everything else, I'm a ThinkPad T480 guy running Debian or Ubuntu. That being said I use a MacBook for work and she runs beautifully.
Galaxy Fold 4. Loving the screen. Makes doing things so much easier when everything isnt squished together.
Pixel 6 Pro. Got it at release to replace my Pixel 3a XL. I have pixel buds Pro to go with it and a garmin watch. Prior to my Pixels I had Honor View 10, LG G2, Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S2, Taco Lite.
I do have an iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) which I primarily use for video calls.
I imagine my next phone will be a Pixel again because I've come to appreciate much of the features. I do have to use a 3rd party launcher (microsoft launcher) because I hate google search being forcibly baked in and the news page being much worse than Microsoft Launcher's news or 'at a glance' pages
I'm using a OnePlus 9 5G. I like it so far, decently fast, decent battery life, really fast charging and wasn't too expensive.
Asus Zenfone 6 and xiaomi K20 pro premium because I don't use front camera.
Pixel 7. For the most part, it works great. Just a few minor issues, which may just be Nova Launcher, and not the phone. I've used Android, iPhone and even Windows phone over the past 14 years - but always come back to Android. I have a Macbook Air, Apple Watch, and iPad mini but haven't used any of them for months. Currently running Debian on a ThinkPad, and sporting a Pixel watch.
I am using a Samsung s21. Have had mostly Motorola and Sony phones. Always regretted my Samsung phones everytime I bought it. I regret this one too... But I will use it till it die and then see what's in the market. Why I dislike Samsung is because they have always forced me to use one or more apps like bixby... I can't uninstall that thing had to map the usual shortcut for screen shot to turn off (it was Bixby) and use a toolbar to take screenshots... I have had it for over 2 years now so I am used to it. But still dislikes it, because it is a workaround/compromise. But I am curious person so that is why I will most likely in the far future buy one again. Motorola has always been great but big and/or heavy.
I have never owned any apple products. Phone, tablet and watch is Android only
Samsung S20 FE. Does everything I need, have owned it for two years and fully expect it to last at least two more. I have the less efficient Exynos model, but it's more than enough for me. I partly chose it because it was among the most accessible options with a 120Hz display back then and I don't regret it. Samsung software can be annoying, but I'm used to it.
I hear people recommend Pixels a lot, and I think I'd have one if they sold them where I live.
I've only had a handful of phones ever, I usually only switch when it becomes unusably slow, or dies, or gets stolen.
I also have an iPhone XS that I like a lot. I think it was pretty unpopular when it came out because of the price and for being too similar to the X, but I bought mine when it was already a few years old. Maining more than one device means I'm constantly missing something about the other platform, it helps keeping an open mind.
Long time BlackBerry user here, now on a Samsung Galaxy Fold Z3, skipping a gen or two, as I just got my Z3 refurbished and I like the thing. Only bad thing I could say about it is its battery life, which isn't spectacular.
I'm very happy with the Fold, because I'm a heavy reader, and really dislike the slab format. The BlackBerry Passport was my previous favourite phone ever, and I thought phones couldn't realistically be bigger and still comfortable to use.
My best phone was an unsung hero that I used between the Passport and the Fold, just because of how reliable it was (and is) -- the Pocophone F2 Pro. Great camera it had at the time, too. I used it while I was getting my Fold refurbished and it was still a pleasure to use.
I upgrade only when the phone starts to show its age, mostly because of reduced battery life, as in terms of performance it's hard to ascertain, taking into account my usage is mostly office-type, text and news consumption. My phones are notification and messaging machines, with email + calendar being very important parts of it.
I'm also carrying a Galaxy Wear 5 smartwatch, which I got on a huge discount (~160 EUR), and that's it. Rest of my stuff is all Linux (desktop, laptop), apart from a Kindle Scribe which replaced a reMarkable 1.
I also have a Pixelbook i5, which is a great little ChromeOS portable machine, but showing its age in terms of CPU power and battery life. No Apple products unless I'm forced to.
Love my pixel 7 pro.
What phone are you using? Samsung Galaxy S10
Are you happy with it? What are its best and worst qualities? Yep, still works great, for now. It's one of the smaller of the big phones so it fits better in the pocket.
Which phones have you had previously? Which were the best and worst of the lot? In the modern era, I had been in various iPhones. My wife and kids jumped on the Samsung bandwagon in 2019.
How often do you upgrade to a new phone? Usually every 3+ years.
What other Android ecosystem devices do you have? Watches, headphones/earbuds, etc. We've got Galaxy buds. I also have an Amazon FireTV stick which I think is Android based. I had a Galaxy Tablet years ago.
Do you also use any Apple products, or are you Android all the way? (And/or Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, etc.). My daughter still has an iPad Mini, but that's about it at this point.
Huawei P20 Lite, stuck on Android 9 (yeah, I need to change that someday).
For.. idk.. 5 years maybe? Before that, I had an.. IPhone 3, I think?
No watches, headphones, earbuds.
