Just 30 mins to an hour. It's really nice to be able to drop it so easily. It has very little addiction feeling, and it's easy enough to just open the app and go through what's new and then close it.

Too much
I spend less than an hour a day, usually. I end up scrolling past a lot of the posts because they don't interest me and are more long form content, but I like to catch up on the memes and cats
A few hours give or take. Usually I read some threads or browse technology news in [email protected] Sometimes, also share some news related to the android world in a Lemmy community like [email protected]
I'm not sure how much exactly, but a lot. In my own defence, I'm not on anything else.
Seconded this. I'll read about things I don't even give a damn about, I just like reading. I'll get better at commenting more one day, try my best for now ยฏโ \โ _โ (โ ใโ )โ _โ /โ ยฏ
Yeah I'm the same,I only use Lemmy as my social media, but I do spend a decent amount of time here saying dumb shit.
I try to limit my social media to less than 30m per day. Lemmy is pretty much exclusively the only SM I use
About an hour a day browsing, and another 1+ hour working on content and replying to people.
Somedays I feel bad spending my time here just working on my own stuff and not getting to enjoy what you all are doing!
Depends how long it takes to poop or fall asleep in a given day
10h 14m total in the last week, according to my phone. So a bit more than an hour a day on average.
According to my app monitoring: 1hr, 49min per day on average. Erk.
Depends on the day. If I dismiss outliers where it's less than 20 minutes, my average is probably about 90 minutes based on checking my app history over the past few weeks. A good chunk of that is typing comments, sometimes looking up a good link to include. I usually swipe through while skimming posts and open comments for a post once in a while, occasionally adding a comment in there. I rarely post anything but comments.
Today I'm at 35 minutes and probably mostly done for the day.
From 0 minutes to 2 hours maybe. Reddit was far worse, I'm glad.
Thirty minutes to an hour
too much.
Too much. I alternate between xitter, lemmy and YouTube. Sometimes I leave YouTube on in the background while I alternate twitter and lemmy. It's a problem.
I couldn't even give you a time estimate, but I know the answer is far, far too much.
Less than an hour a day, when I was spending all my days on that other platform back when I used that. So the switch to Lemmy was a healthy choice for me. I've been applying some strategies to do the same to YouTube.
I just keep it to my phone, and have an app timer set for 1 hour +5 minutes. It's nice if I'm at home, I know it'll cover my daily walking steps, as I pace donuts around the house, which also gets me off my ass and moving, so when I want to browse Lemmy, I try to do so whilst pacing. Regardless, when I get the notification saying the app will shut down in 5 minutes, I know how long I've been on, and kinda do a self-reflective check on how well the time was spent.
If I'm writing a comment that will take time and attention, though, I often just switch to a note, and copy/paste, cause I'll work on something like that for much longer, before often deciding not to post anything, at all. (เธใ)เธง
Around an hour. I like reading but there isn't very much original content to read here. There are tons of articles, but I hate those since there's so much filler.
Would you be into a community just for interesting articles? Like not news but just a weblog kind of thing?
Sure!
I've been thinking about doing one and trying to gauge interest, thanks.
I've got a Firefox extension that blocks websites after an amendable period of time is spent on them, so I limit my time on social media websites to 1 hour a day because I felt I was spending too much time reading mindless drivel, and I often don't even reach an hour nowadays, having only looked at Lemmy.
Care to share the name of the extension? I feel like I should probably use this!
LeechBlock NG!
1-2 hours a day.
Reddit was a lot more so I take that as a win, plus you can engage more here without getting your comments buried.
About 90 min according to my settings screen time. Looks like it divides into ~10 sessions throughout the day, each lasting 1-15 min.
Android wellness tracker says between 2 and 4 hours each day. Lower on weekdays... More on weekends.
That's pretty much back up to Reddit levels from a year ago.
Not a lot, I don't think long usage of social media is beneficial to anyone in the long run, even though I've been running a (small) instance for quite a while now.
I have integrated checking social media feeds (just Lemmy and HackerNews nowadays) into my daily routine, usually only happening in the morning and evening. Because of my admin and mod duties, I end up opening Lemmy more than twice a day, but only to check on reports, applications, etc.
Less than 30 minutes on random days
Happy Lemmyversary!
