Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

This should be a lesson to all remaining mods to stop putting their effort into that site. Reddit doesn’t care about who helped build it. They only care about making money for themselves. What a shitty way to remove you. Completely uncalled for.

Obvious wala paki sa users ang Reddit dahil wala sila maayos na response after the blackout. Pero I'm posting here cause I also know how difficult maging volunteer as Mod. Di biro sacrifice nyo sa pag-review ng mga post, block trolls, etc., kaya sana ma-realize nyo na wala pake sanyo si Reddit. Di kayo bayad sa effort na binibigay nyo pag remain open pa kayo. Kung ako siguru ay isa sa mga Mod, I will stay in my position ONLY IF reddit make changes sa policy to benefit all of us.

P.S. Not sure if I will post this in /r/ph pero active naman mga Mod dito

Obviously, mods don't have a clear stance yet.
Which should be fine if they wanted to listen to what the community has to say first.
Which becomes bad because redditors just do not care.

No matter what tho, the mods are fucked because there is no way to appease both parties.
It's just too bad that there was a lack of preparedness and grit.

Saw this earlier as well. Reddit could have handled this waaaaaaaay better. Instead they demanded an exorbitant price to use their API, gave a woefully short transition period, and accused a dev with lies that were quickly uncovered.

I feel bad for a lot of mods. You either follow reddit and "give up your soul" or you give up a community more than a few actually gave a fuck about.

In a similar post, Apollo Dev u/iamthatis, further cites duplicitous behavior by reddit.

u/Sped should not have rushed this.

As I read from a comment sa old.reddit, quality content comes from quality users and quality mods. If Reddit can't extend the deadline, or even come to some sort of an arrangement and not double-down on this dahil gusto nya daming moneys from IPO, reddit will be the next 9gag or whatever site that simply recycles stale memes/content.

Sadge moment indeed.
