Feels good to be free.

Btw I feel like the last 2 days, things at Lemmy have gotten a lot better, Lemmy.world seems to be operating very smoothly and my expertise with Memmy is becoming close to daily driver good.

Hope to make many more good connections here with you folks and love how active things are becoming

Might want to double check your account in a day or so.

This isn't the first time I've heard a report of this happening.

Welcome once again :)

By the way, might wanna try your snoosite account again in a couple of days to make sure your account stays deleted.

I overwrote my content, hopefully this doesn’t trigger a restore, and flies under the radar long enough that they lose a good restore point

Another path for content to resurface: If you had things in subs which were inaccessible to you at the time of deletion (by still being in blackout), it will show up once they open again.

Yeah I've had to wipe the whole thing half a dozen times now as various subs come back from blackout and those posts become accessible again. I don't mind, but I can imagine it being irritating if folks don't realize what has happened and think there was malicious intent in bringing back deleted content.

What is going on, wrt kbin? Suddenly I just get “error” (not even 503), when I try to upvote.

Bugs happen but kbin gets better every day. Ernest is working his ass off, I've only been here since the 11th and the difference in stability is already super noticeable.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah it's pretty impressive watching kbin get more stable in real time.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, I appreciate our host and access, it was just weird not getting a specific error!

Sometimes you need to refresh the home page and go back to where you want to comment. Expect some issues here and here here. Places went from a few thousand to hundreds of thousand in a couple days and growing pains are to be expected.

I'm getting the exact same thing, and I have no real clue. My assumption, however, is that there is a large sudden influx of activity, and kbin is having a hard time keeping up.

Site's still struggling with all the new traffic.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Running fine on lemmy.world so might be kbin exclusive atm.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Well, yes, the person specifically asked about kbin lol

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What are the tools you used to do it? I'm considering doing the same.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I used shreddit.com. It took a few goes to delete everything, and I'm checking in a few days to make sure it stays deleted.

PowerDeleteSuite doesn't get everything, not even close. PDS only gets what's on your profile, and not everything is shown there - each list (New, Hot, Top & Controversial) now has a maximum display.

Also, reddit has been restoring deleted comments. Supposedly this is because of how reddit CDNs work, but that could just be an excuse and it's still scummy either way.

The most effective way is to get Shreddit off of github and feed it with the GDPR csv files, which include every post and comment. However they're apparently stalling on GDPR requests right now, presumably until after 1 July when the API for any and every deletion scipt will be cut off.

Even then though it is probably a good idea to keep your account open so that you can retain control of your posts, should reddit restore some or all of them.
