there is no functional difference between the LNP and the ALP; both major parties simply employ different flavours of window dressing on their corporate stoogery
Ever wonder why unfathomably cruel policy passed under the LNP never faces repeal? Or why the 'woke commie progressive' economic policy of the ALP protects the same interests as the LNP while tossing paltry 3-5 million conditional grants to token 12 month 'social welfare' dog-whistles?
If you honestly believe we have any integrity outside of the non-dark money parties, you're a fool.
for context, all corporate donations in Australia are dark money, our regulation and enforcement with regards to corruption is basically nonexistent; Australian politics makes the CCP look like a democratic ethics convention.
EDIT: let's see if the ALP has it's aspiring media whore brigade on Lemmy already. ETA: lol, yes
I'm not a fan of Labor, I vote Green, but there are still considerable differences between the LNP and Labor. Those differences might have narrowed in recent times, but they still matter.
Don't even have to look far to see them, I mean this royal commission was a prime example of that difference.
Lab aren't the holy grail, but saying Lab and the Libs are the same is absolutely moronic. How anyone can claim that after the past decade of Libs vs just over 1 year of Labor is beyond me.
This royal commission is a prime example that ALP and the coalition are not the same. That phrase is just propaganda pushed by corrupt politicians (predominantly Libs/Nat) to justify and deflect their own actions.
Talk to me when they actually charge those responsible for their actions, until then it's more of the same culture war bullshit.
I don’t think it’s a culture war bullshit to point out one party is systemically corrupt compared to the other, it’s just the reality. Fact is not all MPs and public servants are corrupt. The majority do the right thing and want to serve the public. To say they are all the same is just plain, flat out ignorant. I do hope those responsible are held to account. I hope this will give at least some closure to the victims. Give it time the report was only just released.
Just so I understand, you are asserting that the ALP is NOT systematically corrupt? You think they’re beholden to the Australian community, or the donors who employ them when it’s the other teams turn?
there are policies that the parties share but the ALP does not include the racists, conspiracy theorists or overt corporate pandering of the LNP.
the arrogance, corruption and sheer inhumanity of the robodebt program is purely the result of the LNP. there is no ALP equivalent
I’m sorry, did you just try to assert the ALP is free from corporate pandering?
no. i said it was free of the overt corporate pandering that is the LNPs core value
I can’t see how you can claim that in good faith, given their policy and performance
The Labor voters didn't like that lol
Nah mate. It's a patently untrue comment that deserved a downvote. 'Bahhh both sides are the same' is used to drive voter disaffection, dismiss guilty actions and lets the exact cycle of behaviour op is complaining about continue
Criticising major parties = "dismisses guilty actions and perpetuates behaviour"? That is some very strange logic.
You're not criticising though. You're equating. Pulling the whole business down to a zero-sum draw
I didn't "equate" anything. That was an entirely different person.
Don’t put words in my mouth; I did not say both sides are the same, I said the LNP and ALP are functionally the same.
They both pussyfoot around substantive change for the good of the country in favour of partisan bullshit, moreover they do it in the pursuit of their post-politics ‘special adviser’ bribe payouts.
I voted ALP and volunteered with them for years, but they never made good on the deal Hawke-Keating made with the unions, and the unions never recovered from that(the CFMEU lockdown ‘protests’ were embarrassing).
You want an Australian politician you can trust, vote for the Greens, they’re transparent about their fundraising, don’t take corporate cash and clearly aren’t eyeing off their borrowed-gold parachute the moment they win.
The ALP and LNP are the same because they share motivations, namely feckless greed.
the ALP have a very active and VERY bullshit inclined social media gang. They're LNP Lite, which should be obvious to anyone not living snout-in-trough on neo-con welfare(negative gearing, franking, etc).
