In reality, the person lived outside of the city, and the county doesn’t have its own firefighters. The 75 a month is a little more than what the regular residents paid in taxes to the firefighters. Stupid is as stupid does.
I’d call that a failed state of the haven’t even got government firefighters. What other basic necessities don’t they have? Are streets also subscription based?
It’s the libertarian dream!
Id call that rural America, yall don’t realize how large some of these places are.
Since when should country size play a role in government support? There are planes ffs. If your military can operate in the middle of a desert with no utilities, you should be able to support a stable civilian management in rural places.
The guy specifically opted out of it. He could have paid the tax but didn’t, and he paid the price for it.
If you can opt out of it, it’s not a tax. It’s an insurance. Taxes pay for everyone.

Toll roads are for profit. Roads shouldn't be for profit.
