dogs ≤ 3
cats + dogs ≤ 4
others + cats + dogs ≤ 8
others ∈ Allowed Species
Lol this helped me understand the text, thanks.
Does an aquarium of fish count as one pet, or does every individual fish count?
It depends on whether you have MERGED the fish
Also, fish do not count towards this limit.
Two cats, a dog, and sixteen full grown swordfish
Bluefin tunas will do nicely, too, they grow up to more than half a ton
Jesus, how much money do you think I make? Put the tuna back, we're getting a guppy....
Not sure if
cats + dogs ≤ 4
I read It asnot dogs ≤ 4
I guess that your ruleset comes from the mention of
including the maximum for cats and dogs
and maybe those are the only ones that are calledpets
but 🤔Yeah, I'm very confused by the "8 pets are allowed" and "4 pets are allowed", it reads to me like "You can have 8 pets as long as you have at most 4 pets" which obviously makes no sense.
It's just badly translated. In French it clearly says maximum of 4 cats and dogs, of which a maximum of 3 dogs.
My god, that's so much less stupid!
"You can have up to 8 animals, all (something) authorized species. Fish do not count toward the 8 animal limit.
"Of those 8 animals, you can have up to 4 cats and dogs, with a maximum of 3 dogs."
Both the English and French versions are on https://montreal.ca/en/topics/pet-license
So it's a trick maths question that actually requires you to know French and have seen these rules in it, seems legit
I dunno, I hadn't seen them, nor do I know french. The second "pets" covering cats and dogs was the only way I could see the statements didn't contradict.
"and these are my pet cats over here, and my working cats over there"
This gives me integer linear programming flashbacks...
That's a good thing! right?
...right?
So I can have 12 cats if I have -8 dogs?
It's quite heavily implied the above is only defined in ℕ
