Over the weekend of 29 & 30 July there are a lot of buildings open to the public and tours which are conducted. Most of the ticketed events are sold out, but there are many open places which don't require tickets.

Yeah, I really wish I'd seen it earlier, the tickets went on sale a couple of days ago and sell out almost straight away - it's not quite as hard to get as Taylor Swift tickets, but definitely getting close! I've put my name on the list for emails of future events (I think, the website is pretty dodgy) so hopefully will see it earlier next year.

yea i thought i was on the list as well. maybe I missed the email. sadly they are not opening the Manchester Unity Building tower.
