Internet is entirely cellular, the ntd was the first thing to go when the power died. Weirdly? My backup modem is 3G and since everything has shifted to 4g+ it's very underloaded. Running better than my phone.
We have no power but i've lived through enough bigass outages that we have plenty of creature comforts. We got fans, console power, working kettle, even a fridge. Womp womp.
If the shit folds out into tomorrow ima gonna bust out the solar panels to refresh some batteries and bring up the big bastard to run the inverter for my laptop.
I was fuming when my phone was out and mobile data wasn’t working.
I couldn’t get updates and could only send texts and had to get updates from a friend.
I’m more worried my frozen food. Got about 4kg of dumplings/gyoza that I recently bought and I don’t really want it all to go to waste because of how stretched I am financially.
The only saving grace has been my power packs and having a Nintendo Switch, my god that is a god send and also my podcasts that get pre downloaded.
Shame there’s power at work though, could have done with a day off.
I recently had solar panels installed so if the sun is really out tomorrow and power is out, what happens?
I also saw trees down on east boundary and along centre road on the way back from work. Big tree took up 1 and a half lanes on centre road near Brady Road/Chesterville Dr.
Glad you’re doing ok as well.
I hope we all get power back soon.
Your solar system most likely won't island, unless you have a powerwall or similar. They're designed to shut off if no grid feed to stop accidentally frying workers doing repairs.
Standalone freezer? Could hold if you don't open it. Icebox? Cook those fuckers and extend their lifespan.
My power came back early morning I'm currently experiencing a weird thing were I think my power isn't stable so I can see all my lights dimming and getting brighter all at the same time.
Don't think devices are properly being powered either as my air con unit was going berserk with beeping and woke me up.
When I get home I'm going to turn off the mains for a while and then turn it back on unless it fixes itself by the time I get home.
Did your power come back? I hear South Road lights are all out at the moment.
Still ain't got shit, idly watching the chaos that is the chesty/south intersection unfold
