Yes.

Billy Crystal hosted a bunch of times in the 90's and was well received because his humor wasn't edgy, just light and fun.

Yeah, I don't understand why every award show needs to be a roast now.

Becasue their viewership has cratered in the past few decades. They need the edgy MC to get people to watch.
