Sounds like I should finally give Disco Elysium a try. The Final Cut's on Gog for 10 Euros. Is that a good price / the right version?
Or should I reinstall Skyrim, load it up with mods, and spend another 1000 hours avoiding life?
Tough call since they're kind of diametrically opposite each other as RPGs go.
Disco Elysium is an interactive novel. If you treat it as such and delve into it committing to their fail-forward design philosophy and unafraid of picking weird dialogue options it is incredibly rewarding. I have not been moved like I was by DE by any other videogame.
Pirating or buying is a coin flip. I hate that Kurvitz, Rostov and Hindpere were forced out of the company and the IP stolen from them. Still, they were not the only ones in the studio working on the game so buying it still gives some money to some of the creators. I think you can justify either decision morally. And yes, the Final Cut is the version you want.
Morality aside, I prefer not to pirate software for safety reasons. Malware is an issue, even if it's rare.
I definitely understand that. These days I hate playing games if I can't get them on GOG.
I hate going outside because of a chance of catching the flu, but I'm gonna anyways
Bad analogy. I'm still 'going outside'. It's just a question of how much I pay to mitigate the 'chance of catching the flu'.
More like cycling to work with or without a helmet. Or wearing a cheap mask during covid.
Perfectly happy to pirate media, but pirated software is a risk I can largely avoid for a very low cost.
Your personal circumstances may differ, so do what you want.
But helmets are SOOOO expensive
Go for it but keep in mind that it's a lot of dialogue and no combat.
Spoken like someone who never started shit with Measurehead
I just finished it, twice too, back-to-back. It's really an amazing game.
I suppose the issue is with the ZA/UM politics (the original creators have been forced out of the company), so some people are suggesting to pirate it instead. That is up to you.
