MODERATORS

After seeing what has happened to Digg, Twitter, Redit, etc. I am absolutely down to support communities like lemmy.world.

It seems everything that is touched by a traditional commercial leadership group ends up turning into garbage when backers come calling for ROI. The ROI I want is a good community that doesn't need ad revenue or VC money to succeed. A community that doesn't need to turn into an organization worth billions in order to be "successful". I just want a place where people can help others by sharing useful information, memes, and anything else that might help bring a smile to someones face.

That's it. Full stop.

I hope this inspires others to contribute. The alternatives are pretty dire, so to me it only makes sense to support places like lemmy.world.

In case you want to donate monetarily like me, that can be done via mastodonworld. I'm posting it because it's not advertised in an obvious place.

You can also donate via Open Collective. I'm not sure what the fee structure looks like for Patreon vs Open Collective but I assume Open Collective is the better option.

I am curious too. If it makes more sense I'll switch over. That said, I wish these were posted somewhere obvious.
