I like ugly monsters, I like playing them too.

I wish modern CRPGs had more playable weird little dudes.

Three flavors of short folk (Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes), nowhere near enough weird stuff

No giant spiders that communicate with tapestries, no manifestations of the plane of order presenting themselves as organic plant-based machines, no children irreparably changed because their parents survived an encounter with beings beyond their comprehension

We get ripped off, for sure

Pathfinder has some really cool animated plant/mushroom people and they're adorable.

All of the things they listed are Pathfinder races from the Lost Omens books, which I think is the joke. Specifically the Anadi, Conrasu, and Geniekin (I think that's the third one?).

I was thinking more along the lines of the non-devil tieflings, like the Motherless or the Shackleborn

Really kind of tired of every tiefling being a sexy person with horns when it's a more interesting idea of having to deal with the world when you look like a filthy potato who doesn't have a shadow and you sweat yellow steam that smells like sulfur

they're based on a critter of the same name in Slavic folklore.

Indrik gang, who up?

Try Pathfinder: Kingmaker/Wrath of the Righteous - Pathfinder has both the best Goblins (funny little green rulebreakers) and best Gnomes (will literally die of boredom), and the TTRPG has stuff like anthropomorphic pugs, animate dolls, and psychic bipedal 3ft rhinos.

I've played both of the Pathfinder computer games - Nok Nok is definitely a weird little guy. But I want to be a weird little guy. Baldur's Gate 3 was definitely missing weird little guys in the party.

Pathfinder Goblins

  • Horse and dogs are evil. Our swords are called dogslicers and our big swords are called horse slicers. We pretty much flee from dogs and horses whenever we see them.

  • Writing is evil and steals thoughts out of your head. It's important to burn books whenever you find them to protect yourself and free the thoughts.

  • Fire is the coolest thing every and there should be more of it in the world

Pathfinder is coming out with Cicadafolk next year and I am so excited to just make droning noises

[–] [email protected] 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A party consisting entirely of Cicadafolk.

You just buzz into combat and the enemies start every combat afraid from the sheer volume of the hum as you all fly in, blocking out the sun.

Bonus against CIA enemies

Surki have potential for an even better bit than just being really fucking annoying as a goblin.

"So you're saying that to save the world, we need a guy to sleep for seven years then climb a tree and yell all summer long?"
