No, I don't know many people who are into more obscure stuff... I know people who think they're nerdy because they watched AoT or One Piece.
Lain isn't obscure. It's just older. It was really, really popular in its time.

If you like old video games and don't mind/enjoy romance stories + are fine with a 3D CGI artstyle, Hi-Score Girl is a really good show I watched recently.
