Rockstar Games, a division of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., plans to announce the next highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto game as early as this week, according to people familiar with its plans.

The company plans to then publish a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI next month to celebrate Rockstar’s 25th anniversary, said the people, who asked to not be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. A spokesperson for Rockstar didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment sent after business hours.

"Plans to announce" is breaking news now? 🤦

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's the equivalent to announce a date when they announce the date of the teaser trailer of a game. I mean wtf is wrong with these people.

Everybody knows it's coming, they had countless articles, "leaked" pre-alpha gameplay footage, so not sure who is surprised at this point.

You'd be surprised. If someone just happens to miss the initial wave of press, then they might notice the second wave when it does announce it.

It's not about making sure to inform everyone, more like building the hype and the legend around the title to make more people talk about it and to justify whatever crazy premium edition price tags they're gonna have.

It's Bloomberg, I feel like half the video game related news that I see from them is just "crazy leak: this game/hardware is gonna be like this! Source: trust me, bro"

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I haven't really seen any video game news from them before this one but I 💯 believe you based on their track record in general. I'm not sure I've ever actually seen them having a good take or angle on ANYTHING!

Before I left Reddit I felt like I saw a "LEAKED SWITCH 2 HARDWARE DETAILS" from them like every couple months for the last two or more years

A leak saying they're planning to release a trailer next month is definitely news.

This just in: they're planing on maybe considering the possibility of perhaps making a statement about anything at an earlier date. Potentially.

Turns out that the discussions ended up with an agreement in the affirmative.

Man I thought they were just gonna shadow drop their biggest game in a decade. Guess I got scooped

Speaking of, did you notice how Bethesda secretly released Fallout 5 yesterday? Pretty bold move, if you ask me!
