Article in the age about the jam factory and the dead part of chapel street that used to be the bustling shopping bit.

Haven’t been there for ages, what happened?

Was there recently, it really is dead feeling. When I was younger I remember people used to go out to Chapel street for a night out; to restaurants, bars, clubs and just to hang out. Not just locals, but people came from around Melbourne. For some reason the younger crowd doesn’t go there anymore, and for the older people, unless you live locally it’s too hard to get to. Maybe it’s because there’s so many other options in CBD, inner north, inner west, etc that there’s really no need to go there anymore. There are better options whichever side of town you’re on that are more convenient and have a better vibe.

Chapel St has always been overrated and I guess people have woken up to this fact.

There was a big police operation / crackdown on chap laps.
