I really miss the shareware era, such a great way to try out games and apps (legally) without needing to pay for them.

And yeah, Apogee had so many bangers back then like the Keen series. I'm also playing Bio Menace right now, which is based on the Keen engine, and it's still so much fun.

Oh I hadn't heard of Bio Menace! I kinda went off the platform genre but enjoy the occasional familiar level of these classics.
