Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Gah, I chased two Pitbulls off my land but not before the fuckers killed 4 of my hens. 1 survived.

6 kiwis were recently killed in Ōpua. Disgraceful.

That’s an issue. Sorry to hear about your hens. We’ve suffered similarly in the past.

Saw the recent Kiwi deaths up here, so sad. 😤

Was there any follow-up from the council? We also have cats and we're worried about the dogs coming back.

We called the council immediately to say there were 3 dangerous dogs running wild across ours and neighbours properties. Didn’t hear anything back until 24 hrs later when the dog warden turned up asking what the problem was!! He took a quick look asked if the dogs were still around, when we said no, he said there was nothing he could do and left.

You should report it to the council.

Damn, sorry for your loss of hens.

Damn, can you get Animal Control to chase down the owners and get them to replace your chooks? Not that that will make it okay but the owners need to take responsibility for having dangerous dogs.

The animal control guy came round today, he had been dealing with the kiwi deaths near Opua and they haven't managed to find the dogs or owners in that case. He said he's had 5 callouts about wandering dogs killing animals since Monday. Seems it's a big issue.

There used to be a big wild dog pack up in the far north near Cape Reinga. Wonder if another is forming.
