This is called a recruiter. I've used them in the UK and they were great. Didn't mess with my CV as far as I know and they were very helpful in suggesting suitable companies, skipping the HR filter, and telling me what to expect in the interviews.
However I work in a pretty niche industry (silicon verification) and I didn't seek them out - I get a few emails a month on LinkedIn from various recruiters and hiring people and I just responded to some.
So it probably depends on what experience you have and what industry you're in. I would definitely recommend keeping your LinkedIn up-to-date though.
I know about 3rd party recruiters and have spoken to a few, I'm not talking about them, they've been kind of a time waste for me, and they make their money from the companies they are recruiting for, what I'm looking for are people who I can pay to find jobs on linkedin etc and fill out the applications on my behalf.
Afaik those don't exist or are a scam. Like best you could get is some automated bot that will spam your resume or hire someone off Fiver. Feeding your resume into sites like Indeed will have about the same amount of effect.
You've got to understand that anyone actually capable of getting you a job has tremendous leverage over you. They're going to get you thousands of dollars monthly and they will want their cut.
