Yeah, I grew up on a farm, I know what cow pies are, but they said cow "patties"! Maybe it's a regional thing, but I've never heard of manure being referred to as that. Even your Wikipedia link doesn't include that term...

I think it's regional, I haven't heard it often, but I have heard it before. I guess pat = patty?
