Private payments with a wallet on you phone is something the digital Euro is supposed to offer, if it ever arrives as designed.
Private payments and digital Euro is something that does not go hand-in-hand imo. How big of a crypto fan I am, I don't like a state/governement/country/union coin.
Why are they so dodgy about Monero you think? Because of the illicit transactions? Nah.. this is just an extra factor
The digital euro, as a digital central-bank currency, is the last thing we want from the perspective of privacy.

Right.
Because databases are never "hacked" and exfiltrated.
(By hacked, I mean most of the time it's social engineering.)
That just goes for all db.
I kinda disagree. Not just for the technical solution that is supposed to enable a fairly good level of privacy but also because I tend to trust ECB employees and ways of working as I've done a few projects with them.
GNU Taler
I believe you meant to say GNU/Taler. \s
What does a delicious chocolate spread consisting mostly of (now) palm oil and some hazelnuts have to do with this?
