I'd like to be one of those people who feels compelled to buy a book every time they go into a book store, but they're like $20 for even a basic paperback. I don't want to drop that much every time I go look at books

Depending on how voracious a reader you are, Kindle Unlimited may be worth investigating. I go through about 4 books a week, so the service ($14/mo) must have saved me about $1,000 by now.

I used to do that but the cost of books now are pretty high so I've stopped buying them.
