See, the issue here is that you're conflating 'don't punch them' with 'let them do whatever they want'.
That's absolutely not what I or those experts suggest. Hate should absolutely be confronted, empathically and aggressively. But not violently, because making martyrs of them only makes things worse long-term.
Of course, if you had actually read either the first linked article or at least the part of it that was quoted in that linked comment, you would have seen that already.
