Tim Walz has taken on a leveled-up approach in a race to the finish of the 2024 election, after a more cautious and buttoned-up start as Kamala Harris' running mate.

In the weeks following the vice presidential debate, Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz has been sounding more like the aggressive campaigner who got the role than the buttoned-up figure he’s cut since joining the ticket.

Dressed in khakis and a navy Harris-Walz sweatshirt Monday, Walz delivered some of his sharpest attacks yet against former President Donald Trump. Walz appeared more natural in his latest appearances on the trail, including in his signature flannel in rural Pennsylvania, after shedding the blue sport coat and white collared shirt he’s favored for the last few months.

He’s also getting back on the TV circuit, with appearances coming up on "The View" and "The Daily Show," according to a campaign official, after Walz went viral pre-running mate selection with his labeling of the GOP ticket as “weird” in a cable news interview.

Been saying it since that terrible debate showing from Biden, though at the time I thought Biden might be able to make a turnaround so I was talking about him:

The only way they're going to make up ground is by putting politeness behind them. They need to be firm, acknowledge the wrongs, call out the bs, and just generally play hardball. That's the current need and I'm glad both Harris and Walz appear to understand this.

By cozying up with Bush and Cheney?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Convincing Republican voters it's okay to vote for a Democrat when the Republican candidate is a fascist is a political strategy, yes.

Glad you seem to understand that.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

trump appeals to anti-establishment- HW cozying up to traditional Republicans solidifies this advantage

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Bush and Cheney are not exactly antifascist

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I would categorize them as conservative institutionalists. Which, in my opinion, the liberals have an easier time appealing to them ideologically.

Electorally thats a benefit and, thats the minimum we need against fascists right now.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Well how'd that turn out for them? The party slid rightward and lost. "Blue no matter who" 😆😆😆

Now it's the party of Dick Cheney, my favorite war criminal.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Perhaps it is a better strategy to reject Repubs who might actually convince people who actually vote, and instead go after socialists on lemmy.ml who have all been spending the last several months writing that both sides are the exact same side with zero differences.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No, they're not saying both sides are the same. They're shitting on Biden and Harris for the Israeli genocide while ignoring the fact that Trump would have a significantly worse response.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

How would Trump be worse on Israel? Israel has already been allowed to expand its war and has faced no consequences for its crimes against civilians. Indeed, democratic leadership in government has rewarded Israel with standing ovations, free cash, and continued arms sales

So how would Trump be worse?

I don't want Trump to win anything. He sucks. But I want Democrats to feel embarrassed about promoting their party. You should feel gross about it, or admit that you are fine with appeasement policy for Israeli genocide

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Former President Donald Trump said that Israel needs to “finish what they started”.

Donald Trump has said that Israel should "hit the nuclear first and worry about the rest later" in response to an Iranian missile attack on Tuesday.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

OK and so far Israel hasn't needed nuclear weapons nor has anybody restrained them from anything they've been done

So please when you vote for Democrat remember that you are voting for genocide enablers. It's appeasement of Bibi

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you vote for anybody who can potentially win, you're voting for genocide enablers. Get over it and look at everything else they stand for.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

What else do they stand for? They don't want my vote

Harris refuses to consider M4A. Instead of government programs she's got a whole slate of "tax breaks" 🙄

Yeah that gets me out of my seat. The radical change our society needs...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

At this point I'm voting Democrat partially just to make people like you annoyed.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Vote for them! Why would I be annoyed?

Just think about Palestinian child deaths while you cast your ballot for the people enabling Israel.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

I cast my vote based wholly on what will do the least harm. Because this world is not black and white, I must consider the impact of an individual who has openly promised to harm as many people as possible if they don't bow down. Live on high atop your knightly steed, oh great one, and look down through your poorly prescribed glasses and rejoice, for in your world there must be only one right choice.

In reality, neither choice is favorable, just better, and that isn't fun for any of us.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Go read his and his party's thoughts. They wrote it all down. Or are you not arguing in good faith and attempting to dissuade others? :)

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Again, how would it be worse than what is already happening under Democratic leadership?

Just admit that you are fine with genocide

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

gEnOcIdE

It is getting old, you literally got nothing else to promote Trump with?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Trump sucks but so does Harrison and so does Biden.

They all love appeasing Israel

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

so does Harrison

Who is Harrison? George Harrison? The Beatle? Harrison Ford? Is Indiana Jones running for president?

Y'know guys, I'm starting to think that this person might not be arguing in good faith...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

William Henry Harrison. Real shit president

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

On allowing Israel to kill children, they are absolutely the same

You're fine with appeasement policy but I'm not

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

I didn't know American democrats ran Israel.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Go read the documents leaked and released. You won't listen to us. You're ready for a comeback either way. So we're not going to bother. Have fun reading! There really is some incredibly horrible stuff written by them.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Then link the documents 🤷 instead of playing coy

I'm not sure what "secret Israel documents" your talking about but what's worse than "sell Israel weapons to kill children and allow them to expand their their war into neighboring countries"?

I guess you find genocide generally acceptable as long as a republican isn't part of it?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

No. Any of us spending the time to create a well thought out response with documentation is pointless. You won't read it and those tactics are part of the Republican playbook: Get them to waste their time. Let them spend it making some elaborate argument and immediately shut it down by insulting them or it.

Do your own work.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago

I think it is funny when I hear Trump warning about the violent liberal Marxists that are coming for us if the Dems win, because if the people on Lemmy.ml weren't Russian trolls, they'd be the people he's talking about. 😂
