Be me, 19

Get job with cruise line company

They send me to Germany with a stop in Ireland

"I can drink here while we wait for the plane!"

Go to bar

Want an authentic Irish drink

Order Irish Car Bomb

It's a good thing I was only there for 3 hours.

My friend went to ireland with some of his mates from uni, and one of them ordered an irish car bomb on the first night. The bartender was cool with it and asked if they serve “school shooters” in the states.

They were all incredulous, and the bartender comes back with the car bomb. He later comes back apologizing profusely because he thought he crossed the line, but they told him it was fine they were just caught completely off guard by that.

They went to that bar many more times.

Do you still get laughed out if you call it a Dublin Slammer?

I am not a barhopper, but I'd think what the locals drink would always be a good, if adventurous choice.

There exist many such stories of the ignorant coming to Belfast and trying to order stuff like that and getting laughed out of the premises!

Honestly, I can’t imagine many people in the US would be offended by that. Especially not the younger generation.

I had a similar situation travelling in Ireland with a friend who ordered a black and tan.
