I feel this way, posts can be hijacked after becoming trendy to be replaced with ads, or there could be other ways to exploit this. If there was a title in the typo, then it's easy to delete the post and re-publish it. But what could be use cases of having to edit a post title after publishing? Just add edits in the post body.

Reddit did it because of hijacking and trolling. Imagine having the top post of all time be edited to some really edgy shit, after it had already gotten there?

It remains to be seen if this will be abused in here or not.

I was on reddit for a long time, and I don't remember ever being able to edit a title. I don't know if it ever happened, but it seems like there are better ways to prevent abuse than a total lockdown.

I think the only way to get a title edited was to DM an admin. As you can imagine, they didn't do it often.

You were never able to.

I meant it as in "Reddit never allowed you to edit titles because.....". Not that they retroactively took a decision to stop you from doing it.
