There are, for me, 4 types of playing guitar:

I want to try to write and record something
I want to try some new ideas
I'm just fucking around
I need to create the sonic equivalent of smashing my head against a brick wall until the wall breaks.

Tonight was number 4. And it also generally lines up with "I need to get some shit out of my system".

I just finished up and fuck I feel so much better. Making loud noise is cathartic.
