I don't find this surprising at all. So many windows updates broke dual booting over years. They really don't care and have no need to.

I think they dont care on purpose. Dual boot is a gateway drug, so the more problems with it the better for Microsoft.

Jokes on them, windows is and has been my secondary OS for years now. If it causes problems, I have no problems just deleting it.
