our On some level I HATE this. "our" Chloe Covell sounds creepy as shit! But I do love how we embrace them. No matter the sport, you are a national hero whilst you compete.

but is it ever used in reference to men? isnt it always women? that feels wrong.

I've heard it in reference to men, but as a collective. "Our Socceroos", "Our boys" etc. I can't think of any examples where it was used in reference to a single male athlete.

there was a thing on patty mills yesterday, not ONCE did Karl say "Our Patty" meanwhile he's busy "claiming" a 14 year old... yeah nah i dont reckon thats ok.

I can't say I've heard it much at the Olympics but I've definitely heard it in reference to the footy.

I do understand where you're coming from I just don't think it's a negative.
