Here’s word that Edgar Wright is about shoot his next film this fall, it’s a remake of “The Running Man,” based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. Of course, as with all big projects these days, Glen Powell is set to star as the lead.

Powell spoke to IndieWire about the upcoming production, which is set to take place in London, and he describes it as a “this massive movie”:

I’m going to be shooting “The Running Man” in the fall […] The world that Edgar’s developed on this thing is just outrageous. It’s so good. And really, we’re just both such big fans of the Stephen King book, and it’s going to be a great character. I’m so fired up about it.

Powell goes on to add that Wright is the one director he’s been dying to collaborate with. In 2008, right after moving to LA, he actually wrote a wish list of directors that he wanted to work with, and Wright’s name was right at the top of the list (“literally number one”).

I’m such an Edgar Wright man. And so, the fact that I get to work with him right now is just so damn cool.

...

Wright is coming off the worst-reviewed film of his career: 2021’s “Last Night in Soho.” He still has his ardent fans who will go see whatever he does next, he’s built up this base of supporters with such films as “Baby Driver,” “The World’s End,” “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs The World” and “Shaun of the Dead.”

Wright has two other projects percolating in the works, including his "Baby Driver" sequel, a “Barbarella” remake starring Sydney Sweeney, but ‘Running Man’ is definitely next.

I thought Soho was excellent, didn't realize others saw it as a lowpoint

It's all relative - I really enjoyed Soho, I loved his other films, so, technically that would make it the worst IMHO but that "worst" is better than a lot of director's best. So it's largely meaningless.
